Jan 3 Jimmy Butler breaks Michael Jordan's Chicago Bulls record for points in a half, scoring 40 of his 42 points in the second half to lead the Bulls in a 115-113 victory over the Toronto Raptors. Jimmy Butler got mad, and then he got hot, very hot. After taking an elbow to the face in the first half that required a stitch during halftime, Butler came out on fire and scored 40 points in the second half. That was good enough to not only break Michael Jordan's Chicago Bulls record for points in a half, but also to defeat the Toronto Raptors, 115-113. He was doing ok and the first half but when second quarter came he was mad.…

In July of 2011 the NBA announced there would be another lockout. After the first few weeks of the season were canceled, the players and owners made a collective bargaining agreement, which set up a shortened 66 game season. After the shortened season, the Miami Heat came back to the Finals looking for redemption with a fully fused core which consisted of Dwyane Wade, LeBron James and Chris Bosh against Oklahoma City's young core of Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and James Harden. The Heat went on to beat the Thunder in 5 games, winning their second NBA title in 6 years. Their dominance carried into the next season, which ended with a win over the San Antonio Spurs in the 2013 NBA Finals which spawned a mini dynasty which was the Miami Heat.…

Growing up in the world of sports, I had a variety of childhood heroes that I looked up too. For me, those childhood heroes were Dwyane Wade and Lebron James. These two phenomenal up and coming NBA athletes, took the league and world by storm when entering in 2003. Each has collected their fair-share of accolades and trophies. From NBA championships, to NBA scoring leaders or NBA first all-Rookie team, both of these individuals have dominated the sport of basketball for over a decade.…

The Golden State Warriors just did what they needed to do, and now they're going home in the same shape as when they left to head to Cleveland — tied in the NBA Finals. Stephen Curry and Andre Iguodala scored 22 focuses a piece and the Warriors, demonstrating their profundity and why they were the association's best group all season, squared the finals at 2-2 on Thursday night with a 103-82 triumph over the Cleveland Cavaliers. LeBron James scored 20 points — 21 under his average in the series — with 12 rebounds and 8 assists, yet Cleveland's megastar, who played with a cut on his head maintained in the first half, didn't score in the final quarter and couldn't do what was needed for the undermanned Cavaliers. Timofey Mozgov led Cleveland with 28 points and Matthew Dellavedova, again fighting leg cramps after a hospital stay for dehydration, had 10. The Cavs shot only 2 of 18 from the field in the final quarter.…

Honestly, I’ll come right out and admit that I have never been the Detroit Lion’s number one fan, or any football fan for that matter. Sure, I had technically gone to each of the homecoming games both years in high school, but only for the sole excuse of being able to put some red war paint on my face and attempt to catch up with some friends. The only exposure I had to the sport was walking through the doors of Phase Three during cross country season. Day after day, I was forced to push through groups of teenage guys reeking with a putrid stench of dried sweat, rotting eggs, and grass stains; the smell in itself was enough to make my eyes water.…

As a longtime Golden State Warriors fanatic, I am ecstatic to see that the organization is offering members of Warrior Nation the opportunity to join the team as a part of its summer internship program. I was personally encouraged to apply by personal mentor and former 2013 summer Digital Marketing Intern, Mr. Benjamin Trinh. Over the past several years I have seen the Golden State Warriors, through a lot of hard work, grow from being the pride of Northern California into being the model organization in the league. It is this same diligence and passion which embodies who I am and pushes me to continuously grow as an individual. After speaking with Ben, I extensively reviewed the online application.…

The Midwest is home to states with rich cultural backgrounds and popular tourist attractions. To take a break from the busy schedule I have as a student, and to avoid writing more essays like this, I went on a vacation to Michigan with my mother and two siblings. We visited South Haven, a pleasant port city on Lake Michigan’s east coast, and Detroit, the famous largest city in Michigan. These areas interest me because there’s plenty to do; there are amazing restaurants, breath-taking scenery, and family-friendly, inexpensive entertainment. South Haven is famed for its relaxed atmosphere and homely feel.…
