Imagine a place where everywhere you look, you see beauty, everywhere you smell is crisp fresh air. Everywhere surrounding you are ginormous mountains with snow slowly melting and one huge blue body of water. There are trees all over the place, and everywhere you look you see nature and all of God’s creations. This fascinating place is Lake Tahoe, in Nevada. Lake Tahoe is absolutely one of the most gorgeous places I have ever been.…

Two thousand five hundred eighty-seven. I could take an eight-hour flight or a casual thirty-seven-hour drive, but no matter what, I am still two thousand five hundred eighty-seven miles away from my home in New Haven, Connecticut. Being a college freshman, trying to juggle class, homework, projects, studying, sleeping, eating, and athletics; finding the travel time to go home is an almost impossible task. Add in the cost of the $600 flights round trip and there is no chance a student can go visit home when they feel a little homesick. I on the other hand had never even fathomed being homesick from the frozen tundra I called home.…

At the age of nine my mom finally met someone she felt compatible with - he lived with us for a couple years then we all decided to move to a bigger place.…

When I was younger, my parents always bragged how I was a quiet and obedient child. Growing up in a small town of Tennessee and Illinois, where there were more trees than people, you knew everyone. Everyone knew you. Life was simple back then. Sacramento has always felt like home to me, I grew up about twenty miles away from Sacramento in a small town called Woodland. Having spent the majority of my life either in or right next to it, I feel like I have a lot to gain from a school quarter spent interning there. Although moving for a school quarter may be difficult, I have adapted well to Irvine while living independently so I believe I will be able to do the same in Sacramento. Most importantly, I hope this experience challenges me. Throughout my schooling, I have always taken a larger class load with challenging classes to fill this criterion, while maintaining a 4.00 GPA, and now that my major coursework is over I hope to gain some real-world experience that fills this role.…

Growing up in Southern California we spent most of our summers at Lake Havasu and Parker. For as long as I can remember, getting to spend my summers on the lake with my close friends and family was what got me through the school year, knowing that for a full month I would have no cares in the world except for what adventures lay ahead of us. As the school year came to an end, all we could think about was getting to the lake to start our last summer together before we all ventured off in separate directions. Starting to pack and load up the RV was all I could think about for days, seeing as this was the last summer we would all spend together.…

It wasn't a normal day at school, I was way to happy the whole day. I could barely stay in my seat while doing work or listening to the directions being told by the teacher. It was a Friday, not just any Friday though, it was the Friday before spring break of 2017. I could tell it was going to be one of the best spring breaks yet.…
