The people who eat 1 dollar cheese burgers that you can buy from almost every street corner in america. Here in france, we take pride in our food instead of saying "how full will it make me and how fast can I get into my mouth." My mom and dad are standing behind me in line all bundeled up. Dad didn't want to move and thought she was very stubborn not to just shut up and go back to work. They got in a huge fight and dad left. We packed up our things and headed out to the station to get on a boat. We didnt make it a block until he pulled up beside us in the car and said if we were gonna move, he was gonna come with us. So here we sit at the the boat dock on broken wood chairs, ready to board. We still had another 5 hours, and there was allready a line a mile long. We dont have much; the most expensive thing we have is our horse drawn cairage. There are two horses that pull the car, Lesco and Fasco. Lesco is 6 years old, with a long blonde coat and crystal blue eyes. Fasco is 8 years old and has a short gray coat with black eyes. Fasco has been in a wreck before and we are really lucky that he survived. As you can probably tell, horses are my …show more content…

Most of the time I am out riding my horse or doing anything else. My parents hate me, Its like they have a dissease. We have a candle in the living room that never melts. Its all cool and all, but my parents just stare at it all day. Its like it has magic powers. I tried to sit with them and watch it but I was very nicely told to shove off. It is cliché to say that one of the reasons for a foreign person migrates from one country to another is to pursue the dream they can’t achieve back in their home country, but it is true for me. I called mine American dream, not the dream of being free as President Ronald Reagan explained, or the culturally blended as explained in many western songs. It is simply the ability to further myself by having a college education, where you Dr. Seuss motto apply: you can be whatever you want if you believe so. As a student born outside the United States, I understand that there are not many scholarships available for me. However, I would like to take this opportunity and try to apply for the scholarships that would be valuable toward achieving my American dream.…

My American dream lines up with “The American Dream” more or less than other American. The American dream revolves around being successful and happy. My American dream is to go to college, have a successful Motocross career, get married, have kids, and have a nice house. My dream is probably what most American people aspire to obtain. This makes my dream similar in that it deals with dreams of the American people and it is a change for the better.…

“AURÉLIE, COME ON OR YOU'LL BE LATE!!!!”my mother rushed into my bedroom with super human speed, trying to get me out of bed. Today was the day that i was going to America. Mother and I had heard all sorts of things from the neighbors about a place called Ellis island about how heavenly the place was said to be, and about how bad it could be If one was to say the wrong thing. Me and mother barely had enough to support ourselves, so it took quite a while before we were able to get enough money to go. Even though mother had to work more than 2 jobs , and I the same, it took almost a year to earn an equivalence of what of what it would be for only one person to ride in 3rd class.…

To begin with, life in the Philippines is just easy, simple, and no rush. Families and friends are always around to help, to comfort, and to guide me when I feel lost. The people are friendly and warm, known to be “smiling people” even in times of calamities, as seen on the news. Also, the buzzing mass transportations such as tricycles, jeepneys, buses, taxis, and trains are accessible to the public. Nonetheless, as a typical Filipino I aspired to live in the land of milk and honey, where “job is looking for you”.…

    J. R. R. Tolkien wrote, “All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost.” Living in the moment and pursuing your dreams are undoubtedly essential parts of enjoying life; however, it is equally as important to stick to your roots and appreciate where you came from, where you obtained your intellectual curiosities, and where you predestined your goals and aspirations. I grew up in a very close-knit family surrounded by the hills of suburban Fullerton in Southern California. By no means was this a harsh environment to live in mentally or physically, in fact, I loved almost everything about my city; the cool weather, the delicious restaurants, and the alluring people had always made me feel blessed. My father worked hard to settle his painting business and my mother had just started her job as a bank accountant; and as far as I could tell, my family was very close to achieving— to some degree— the fabled ‘American Dream’.…
