Personal Narrative: My Trip To A Basketball Team

A favorite experience I had was going to Greensboro, North Carolina this summer to compete in Seventh Grade Nationals with my Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) basketball team. I always enjoy tournaments when we stay at a hotel for the weekend because I have a strong relationship with my teammates. However, this trip was something special. For almost a week, I had the opportunity to bond with my teammates, play basketball, relax, and explore Greensboro. In addition, I met some of relatives, who live in North Carolina, for the first time that I can remember. During the tournament, we competed well despite losing all three of our games. We also won one game by forfeit. We even had a double-digit lead at one point, and stayed within five points almost the whole game against another opponent, but we let both games slip away from us. Despite us not actually …show more content…
It was a great accomplishment because I made it to the most elite level of basketball play for my age. My team qualified to compete against the top AAU teams in the Eastern United States. This is very helpful towards me being recruited for basketball, since this portrays me as an elite player and gives my team a better reputation. Both of these could potentially be substantial factors that assist me in being recruited or receiving scholarship money from a high school or college to play basketball for them. The experience taught me what the most competitive level of basketball equates to at my age. In addition, I learned how much better I must perform to be able to lead my team to victory. To be successful against teams as skilled as we played in Nationals, my team and I must stay focused, confident and relaxed. Something else I have taken a grasp of is that I have made it to a considerably high level of competition, so that if I push myself to the limit, I can become a highly skilled player as demonstrated at the

It was springtime during the year of 2012, I was just about to start my summer. I was looking on the internet for sports to do in Kaneland, because I wanted to compete at a higher level. But I was not always comfortable with playing on a travel baseball team, but I knew this could be a great opportunity for me, so I took a risk and after all it, payed off. I asked “Dad would you think I would be able to compete and play on the travel baseball team” He smiled “Yes, but one thing I learned when I was young and playing baseball is; it is a game of mistakes, and the only way you can succeed is if you practice over and over to improve.”…

People coming from a different planet would think every day things we do in life are weird. What we have adapted to and think are normal look very weird to others who haven’t seen people doing things like this. Such as someone who has never shaved before would think that is very odd to shave your beard. Or someone who has never seen a drive threw would think it’s weird to have people have food handed out the window. As we think other cultures are weird we have to look at the fact that our culture is weird to others People that have never seen basketball would thing it is a bunch of people running around with a ball.…

Like all children all I ever wanted was to be big and do big people things. I engaged in a few family members that I would look up to and try everything they did. I use to pretend to go grocery shopping and being a parent at times. At the age of eight, I had worn the worst pain ever and that was watching my five, year old brother getting hit by a car while trying to cross the street riding a bicycle that had a loose chain. I remember him trying to get up and get to me, but a few adults that had witnessed the accident had told him to lay down.…

At some point in every person's life, they will have a special experience that will stick with them forever. One of my most memorable moments happened recently at a home volleyball game against Traverse City West. Approaching freshman volleyball season, the upperclassman spoke highly of the importance of overpowering TC West. As a ninth grader, I had the mindset that I would be playing for the freshmen team. I didn't think it really mattered what the outcome of the game would be, since we were only ninth graders.…

I started my journey in health and fitness at a young age. I was always one of those kids who just could not sit still - so I was into everything, climbing trees, riding bikes, swimming, sports, you name it I was into it. However my discipline to this way of life came when I discovered basketball, it was when I was about 13/14 and shot up to practically the height I am now, so my teachers said why don't you try and develop your skills as a basketball player as I was taller than most of my teachers at 13 which lead them to think I'd grow to be some kind of 7 foot giant, but unfortunately that didn't happen, would've been cool though.…
