I had the fortunate pleasure of having the s. ame supervisor for my two practicum. Therefore the lessons I learned were very valuable in my transformation into a counselor. The skills that I can use whether I’m in individual therapy or family therapy is fully supporting the clients. This is done by validation, affirmation, and cheerleading (Hutchinson, 2012). I work with women who have overwhelming amount of trauma associated with their past. Often times they need some validation on how much hard work they have accomplished thus far.
Another lesson learned is self care. We talked a lot about it in our discussion board however the crisis that come up in residential setting can be very stressful when you have hard deadline when it comes to paperwork,
