Personal Narrative: My Time At Barnegat High School

My time at Barnegat High School has helped me to become who I am today and will most defiantly impact what I will do in the future. The teachers and my peers have all been an influence on my life and during the four years that I spent at the school, I have done some things for the school and the community as a way to thank them for giving me the opportunities that they have. It was they who pushed me to keep trying and striding to succeed and without them, I would not have accomplished what I have today. One of the things that I am most proud of doing is helping to bring new clubs and activities to Barnegat High School. This year, with the help of other students and advisors, a new club made it into the ranks of the diverse sea of clubs and groups that already exist. There I met with a graduate of the school whom I had become friends with through sports. He informed me of a new program in the Ocean County Vocational Technical School Program, and what they were offering was exactly what I wanted to go into as a career. Once accepted into the program, I realized that I was the only student from Barnegat in my specific program. This only motivated me to work harder to gain positive recognition for the school. As well as just academics, I took part in the SkillsUSA competition and in the state level competition, my team and I received silver medals. This competition is just one example of how Barnegat High School has opened the door for me to learn in an advanced setting. It has taught me important team building traits and the college level work in the vocational school has taught me how to better manage my time and schedule to get all of my work done on
