This was our third mission trip together, we have experienced el salvador and Panama but we did not know what to expect in Uganda. As we waited for the plane to take off we cracked jokes and laughed obnoxiously that that the family to the left of us told us to lower our voices. the Ugandan Soccer team. I was so excited for this game because I love soccer. When I think of playing a soccer game I think of a perfectly cut grass soccer field but this wasn’t the case, there soccer field was a lopsided soccer field with dirt and patchy grass spots with occasional rocks everywhere. The soccer goals were even made out of wood sticks. I was a little afraid to play on that soccer filed because I was already committed to play soccer at Dallas Baptist University and I really did not want to get injured in any way shape or form. The game started and it was very one sided because we were playing there Ugandan High school soccer team versus a bunch of students who play other sports and not soccer, I was the only true soccer player. 2nd half started and the score was still 0 – 0, The ball was played high in the air near the Ugandans goal. I jumped as high as I could and so did the keeper but we collided mid air very hard and I ended up landing very hard on my back and head on the rocky ground. I was in a lot of pain but we were awarded a Penalty kick. I took the penalty kick and scored and won the game for us making it a 1-0 game. I would later find out that I had a fractured sternum after the
