How has this experience affected you?
This experience has affected me in many positive ways. One major way it has made me manage my time better. I am very busy with my job, 16 units, an internship, and sitting on the committee for a non-profit; this project is highly inconvenient to my schedule. Due to this ,I have had to get shifts covered, skip classes, and reschedule meetings so that I could make it to the meetings. Thanks to time management skills i have been using I have been able to make time to finish/catch up on that work that I have had to miss.

The positives were that I was able to give back to the community; it is always nice to support an organization who's sole purpose is to help people. The drawbacks were that it was very inconvenient to my schedule, and that it caused me to divert time from other projects I could be working on.
What benefits did you gain?
Whenever you work in a group setting it always test your team work skills. This assignment has done just that, I naturally have a strong leadership attitude but I did not let myself try to be the team leader. I contributed as team member and did not try to have a leadership role at all. Our team functioned very effectively and we all worked as equals.

As my high school career is winding down, I take time to reflect on the last four years of my life. I think of how my attitude and personality has changed since the beginning of freshman year. I think of all the people I met and how they impacted my life. I think of the fun times, but also the hardships I endured. Most importantly, I think of what I learned-in my worst of times, when nothing has gone my way, God has a plan.…

Both experiences have affected me because it has changed the way I see the world around me and given me new insight on what is going on in my own community. I thought I had a pretty good knowledge of the issues occurring around me, but after going to these events and listening to the class lecture, I have found there is a lot for me to learn from to have a greater understanding of what is going on around me. Because of this Service-L Learning course, I learned I need to be open-minded about the impact individuals, such as myself, have on the community, so I can better help the individuals in my community. This experience was different than what I expected because I expected to be volunteering at one certain area for the whole 20 hours. I did not expect to take part of what the community events, but I am glad I did because it has opened…

From my point of view, our team process was a journey, and in some ways, it felt like a marathon instead of what I thought would be an easy sprint. Early on in class when we were all introduced to this Leadership in Movies Project I thought it would be a fun way to work in close collaboration with classmates with classmates whom I had never known before. The task of finding a movie was the beginning of how our group started to bond. In hindsight, this assignment could be considered our icebreaker. Once we picked a movie, I was so excited to watch it.…
