If there wasn’t a Lord of the Rings marathon running in the background of my day, it was a Star Trek marathon. As I began to seriously think about what I wanted to do in life, I watched these seemingly ordinary characters accomplish amazing feats. Seeing Frodo get the ring all the way to Mordor, even though that exact situation will most likely never occur to me, inspired me and helped me believe that I could do equally as great things in the real world.
On any given night I can be found watching whatever artsy or foreign film happened to find its way onto my Netflix list. While physical discs are mostly a thing of the past, a quick glance at my Netflix history reveals just as much of my recent self as the discs do for my past. The films I most often watch now feed into my desire to look at things from different perspectives, whether that is a foreign perspective or one that’s just a bit more whimsical.
Whether it be movies like Frank, The Hunt, or Horns my film taste continues to say more about me than I ever could on paper without mentioning them. With the start of my college career I can’t wait to grow personally and see that change through my ever-changing film
