Recently my two classmates have shared their opinions on two speeches titled Gay marriage in America and Georgia tech freshman convocation speech. My first classmate has given preference to the second speech. It seems that he is more inclined to Shelby as a person with charisma who is capable to attract attention but not to the content of his speech. Thus, Shelby, as a college student (ethos), tells very emotionally about the major things which every student of his college must know. He actively uses tone and gestures to express his thoughts and make the audience believe what he says.…

“Boys will be boys” my mom said nonchalantly as I told her what had occurred in my last class period of the day. It baffled me how a teenage boy being mocked for his sexuality could be so trivial in her eyes. I didn’t understand how the struggle for gay rights was any different from black rights or feminism. To me we were all united, brought together by our interminable fight for equality and acceptance. As an amiable and peaceful introvert I find it difficult to stand up for what I believe is right.…

I believe that all people should be treated with equality. I’ve been supportive of gay marriage and equality ever since I was little. Of course I didn’t think much of it, it’s all I’ve ever known. It wasn’t until I was older that I started to hear the discrimination to the gay community. First was the little comments, then the debates on TV, then was the back and forth opinions from my family.…

A big thing is that the couple gets their marital benefits. When a couple gets married they get many great benefits that a single person wouldn’t get, so a homosexual would say this was fair to them. The air is filled with typical school cafeteria ambiance, the sounds of screaming kids, people chewing with open mouths and folding cards. Fifteen minutes into the freshman-sophomore lunch period and I’m ranting off the ears of every person nearby. This is a handful of people, considering the table is so packed I barely have any arm space. The topic at hand is rather controversial, causing most of the kids to sit idle.…

In the article I read it talks about children who are adopted into families with homosexual parents. The author is not talking to one particular group of people. He is more or less likely trying to bring attention to all groups of people both young and old.…

My mother and I sat at our kitchen table, the dim glow of the olive green walls casting overhead.
