Personal Narrative: My Student And Mason City High School

Improved Essays
I am currently a student and Mason City High School. I am a sophomore right now. My freshman year was a good year. I started hanging out with a different crowd my freshman year. I got to know them better and have had some great times with them. I got in trouble quite a lot. Not as much as at John Adams but I was still getting in trouble. My freshman year I had a couple new classes like Business with Mr. Christopherson and Spanish with Mrs. Axdahl. Half way through the second semester I joined a new class to help me with my grades. The class was called StAR. Mrs. Courtney and Mr. Jordan help me get my grades up in my classes. It’s like a study hall but you can't do whatever you want you just do school work. Ms. Peterson was my English 9 teacher, she was a very nice lady. For Foundations of Science I had Mr. Vorba, he was my favorite teacher my freshman year. He was just really funny and chill. …show more content…
McGuire, she was really nice. I had Mrs. Bruns for World History, she was alright I guess. She definitely did not like me or my friend Chance. Freshman year was a great year I got to know my nephew, Hunter better. My favorite class was Foundations of Science and Algebra. The classes were interesting and had a lot of fun in them. In my Science class I had Parker Holland-dunn and Alberto Ramon. We had a good time in that class. In my Algebra class I had AJ (m) and Kelly Hayes. I failed Algebra with like a 15%. I had like 5% Q3. It was only because I had Bronchitis and pneumonia for two weeks. I had bronchitis for a week and went back to school for a couple days then went back to the doctor and had pneumonia, and missed another week of school. Also I just really didn’t care about Algebra since you only need 3 years of math. I regret that now because now I have a terrible teacher. Algebra and Spanish were the only class I failed my Freshman year, and yet I still got a credits for Spanish and went on to Spanish

What “science” did you learn in this class? My favorite class was the lights and lasers because I found how light really works and how our eyes see with different types of lights, also because I found it’s so cool how certain types of lights and lasers work on a special kind of glow in the dark wall.…

Somehow, I managed to trick my parents into believing I was good in math. I never wanted them to know I couldn’t even solve a basic subtraction problem, so I kept lying about my grades. It was extremely hard for me to keep up the act, but I was totally convinced there was nothing I could do. I wasn’t good at math when I was younger, how could I be good at it now? Overtime, I had forgotten most of my multiplication facts, and subtraction gave me a headache.…

Growing up in Southwest Philadelphia and Upper Darby, I have seen a lot of my peers turn their backs on education due to the hardships of their urban school environment. Due to the poor education system and their circumstances, they decided to head towards street life such as selling drugs and gun violence.…

Even though everyone who goes to Shakopee High School knows about this situation, they do not know how much it has significantly affected my life. My life changed last year in so many ways. In some ways this has given me more opportunities, but in most cases this event has negatively changed everything around me. Worst of all it has made me lose many friends, given me a bad reputation, and has made everyone think that I am someone that I am not. People I had never met did not like me, discriminated against me in some situations; but on the other hand, it has showed me who my real friends are because they continued to persevere by my side and stuck with me through all of the tough times.…
