The Interview: Portfolio Piece 1 I have chosen my step dad for the interview for many reasons, I have always been curious about what he did in Iraq and the things he went through. Also I have never sat down and talked to him about this, he had only ever told me a little bit about his experiences. My question to him is, what were some of your memories about deciding you wanted to be a Marine and being over in Iraq. Having this conversation will bring more depth to our relationship because I will get a better understanding on some of the things he did before he met me. I first sat down with my step dad to ask him about his experiences in Iraq. My first question was, “How old were you when you decide you wanted to go into the military? Or how long have you been thinking about doing something like this?” …show more content…

I decided to go into the Military.” I was a little shocked because as children we always say we want to be a doctor or a firefighter, but to actually live up to it- most of us won’t. But he actually went through with it, which to this day sounds like something he would do. I curiously asked him the next question, “what were your parents first reaction when you said you wanted to go into the military?” “Well I kinda blindsided them, I told them that they needed to be at the house at a certain time and date to sign my enlistment papers,” he said abruptly, “my dad was always supportive so he supported my decision, but my mom was always worried about what I do, so she still worries about me to this
