We drove by the Mile High Stadium, where the Denver Broncos play, I was amazed at how beautiful the city and the mountains were. We got to a motel for a night and tomorrow we were going to check out some places to get a house, well that’s what the plan was. As a few weeks went by we haven’t found any houses and my stepdad went to get our stuff from Davenport and on his way back the transmission in is car went out, that was just the start to 3 years of hell for us. The only thing that was life changing is that my dad changed jobs from working in Iowa city and being gone all the time, to switching jobs in Clarence so I’d see him more. When I was littler, me and my brothers would get up super early Christmas morning so that we could hopefully open all the presents that were underneath the tree. We would separate the presents and try to figure out what was inside each one, while we waited for our parents to get up.…

My life in 800 words… It seems like an impossible feat to describe someone’s lifetime in such a small amount of words: the good, the bad, the days of adventure, the days of crying, and all the days in between. Throughout my life I have been blessed to have parents who saw the value of education and pushed me to do the best I can. They suffered greatly for my education and by sending my to St. John’s Prep, they both suffered financially as well. My childhood can be argued as the opposite of the stereotypical American family dynamic.…

I decided to write about my relationship with my dad in this post because Father’s Day just passed and because I’ve already made a post about the incredible bond I have with my dad. In that post I mentioned that he was away in Korea when I was born and I didn’t get to see him until I was 7 months old. My mother, who was only 22 at the time, had a lot of responsibility taking care of the three of us who were all under 3 years old. When my dad came home he took over the caregiving duties for me completely because he wanted to make sure he bonded with me. There was a solid attachment built between the two of us at that time that has been tested over time but never frayed.…
