Personal Narrative: My Small Court Room

It was a small court room, and the room was filled with all sorts of people. I think there were some that was there for court and some were there to hear someone’s sentencing. There was a banner you could see as you walked in at the front of the room that said” Show up, Be honest, and Try”. To my left of the court room there was a jury box with people in it, I thought there was a trial going on, but actually there were two people in orange and I believe the other people were counselors for their program. There was a girl standing in front of the judge wearing an orange suit and two attorneys at her left. It was hard to hear everything that was being said, what I did hear from the girl in orange was that she is going to an outpatient facility, then to an inpatient program. …show more content…
The second person came up and stood in front of the judge and she told him the charges, he was approximately twenty five years old, he was not a citizen of the United States, and the judge told him that he could be deported. She sentenced him to four to six years in prison. His original charge was selling one gram of heroin and was sentenced to drug court and treatment. One day after he left drug court treatment he committed burglary, the judge told him to remember what he had learned from treatment while he was in jail, and he also waived his rights to a trial. The third guy in orange also went to jail for not following instructions. The next set of people were people sitting in the pews like I was. This set was interesting, they all had been to treatment and were finishing different phases. Each person they called up, the judge told them congratulations and some received a certificate, there was one that the judge took pictures with, every one clapped and then on to the next. Each person that was called to the front was asked to read a passage of their choice and of what they had
