The summer of 2012 will forever have a place in my mind; the summer I went from a coy, little girl to an independent, social girl. Everything started with my father, a confident and loving man, who has all the faith in me, it all started when he told me he was going to sign me up for space camp. Once, he notified me of this, I became a nervous wreck, I was a bashful child who loved her mom so much, she would not be able to leave her for an entire week; my mother was a devoted and indulgent person. Through a part of a camp, there was a tremendous part of fear in me. At the beginning of camp, I was extremely sad. Never did I think, that my short time in Huntsville, Alabama would be the week that altered my life completely. Threats from my dad

Many people from my hometown use the phrase, “Everything is greater in Decatur.” Decatur, GA is where I was born and raised and has been an integral part in shaping me into the young lady I am today and the woman I am becoming. Members of my family and my community have gone on to do great things outside of this city, which has provided solid proof that there are more great opportunities outside of Decatur, GA. People have left to become educators who are now teaching, guiding, and delivering necessary tools for individuals to be successful; lawmakers who are developing plans and policies to create a well-balanced and structured society; professional athletes who are working diligently to study and perfect their craft, and many other professions.…

The Midwest is home to states with rich cultural backgrounds and popular tourist attractions. To take a break from the busy schedule I have as a student, and to avoid writing more essays like this, I went on a vacation to Michigan with my mother and two siblings. We visited South Haven, a pleasant port city on Lake Michigan’s east coast, and Detroit, the famous largest city in Michigan. These areas interest me because there’s plenty to do; there are amazing restaurants, breath-taking scenery, and family-friendly, inexpensive entertainment. South Haven is famed for its relaxed atmosphere and homely feel.…

Coming to Houston from a country where opportunities are very limited and economy is a challenge for the youthful, has made the last two years a little rough and hopeful at the same time for me and my family. Therefore, school is the most important in my life, after my family; I dedicate my time and my efforts to not become just the first professional in my family, but also to be an exemplary person in society thanks to the values that my parents have instilled in me. Before coming to Houston, I studied three years of Industrial Design in Colombia; although I loved my career, I think that I was too young (15 years old) to appreciate what school was providing me and to be sure what I wanted to do in life. Once I got here I understood that what…

The day I moved to Georgia, we had been living in Texas for five years when my mom said we were moving to Georgia. I graduated my senior year from high school I thought she was lying, but she said that the VA center down in Texas was awful, and she didn’t like it there anyways, but she really wanted a better VA system. Then we started packing every month putting stuff in storage, and having to do open houses every other week, we had to clean, vacuum and take our pets with us every time we left the house until our house finally sold. Then we started looking at houses In Grovetown, also for a good school system then we waited 3 weeks for a house because we were looking at spots with upstairs and down stairs, a big backyard for or dogs, also a school…

For two weeks, I stayed in Charleston, South Carolina. I didn’t know much about the place, except that I referred to it as an army town because that’s where my sister and her husband, who was in the military, stayed. I was reluctant to go, but Charleston had a lot to offer me; a new change of pace and some new scenery was much more satisfying than spending the two weeks stuck in Iowa doing the same old routine. The weather was mystical in Charleston.…

I’ve lived my entire life in Indiana, as have my parents. My mom and dad were raised close to Monroe and went to Adams Central, where they met and fell in love. They ended up moving north to Fort Wayne where they had my sister and I. We began our schooling in FWCS, but we moved farther north to the tiny town of Huntertown later, which led to my sister and I switching to NACS for my high schooling and her middle and high schooling. Due to all of the events that have happened here in Indiana throughout my life, and due to most of my immediate family living in the area, I have a desire to continue living and working here.…

With the coldness filling the air as I was born into the world on December 9th, 1998, in the city of Houston in Texas. Known for being the Bayou city, Houston is where I have spent the entirety of my life. As large as this town is I was raised and have only seen only one side of Houston, and although my vision of it was only limited I learned many things with the limited resources I had in my disposal. It was a little apartment almost barely any room for my family, it was small and I was only allowed to be inside so I didn’t learn much.…
