Personal Narrative: My School's Webcast Program

Decent Essays
One extracurricular activity that I am heavily involved in is my school's Webcast program. At the Webcast, we stream different sporting events year round that involve our school such as football, basketball, and volleyball through the NFHS Network. Our school’s Webcast has been recognized for three consecutive years as an NFHS Elite School since 2014. NFHS uses our school's webcast as an example for other schools. I have been a member of the Webcast all throughout my four years at St. Pius. I had to film games, work the switcher/soundboard, and work on the computer that makes sure everything is presentable. I also have commentated for Softball, Baseball, and Lacrosse.
Currently, I am the Senior Leader/Producer of the program. As Producer,

Leadership is defined as being a leader of an organization or a group of individuals. To me a leader is someone who will give their all to accommodate someone in obligation of assistance. A leader doesn’t give up on hard task and pushes to be an example for their peers. I have demonstrated my leadership in and out of school by being a responsible, honest and hardworking individual, who expresses empathy to help those who didn’t think they could achieve a goal on their own. While in high school I have been in multiple extracurricular activities such as Drill Team, FBLA, FCCLA, Student Council, Class Treasurer, NHS and Yearbook.…

By serving as an officer, I have also gained responsibility, as well as problem solving and communication skills. FFA has opened doors to new leadership roles at both a local and multi-county level. I have been given the opportunity to serve as Teutopolis Chapter and Section 20 Reporter and Vice President.…

Review of Howard’s “Students as Storytellers: Teaching Rhetorical Strategies through Folktales” In the NCTE journal, Teaching English in the Two-Year College, PhD student Jeffrey Howard published a fascinating article titled “Students as Storytellers: Teaching Rhetorical Strategies through Folktales.” In the article, Howard explains how he was able to captivate students with an assignment that gave them the creative license to reinvent a popular fairytale, Little Red Riding Hood, all while asking students to explore and develop rhetorical strategies in their composition. The article shows the value of using literature in the composition classroom as well as how the practically universal texts of fairytales can reach students of almost…

My high school community is unique and incredible in that it is inclusive. It was the best decision of my life to attend Xaverian Brothers High school, despite what failures I encountered. A new journey in my life began on August 13th, 2014 as my school principal cut the red ribbon celebrating the opening of a brand new high school. Little did I know, it would become a journey of growth and unique experiences unlike any before it, further refining and adding to my inner sculpture of identity and talent. I was going to Liberty High School, therefore it was necessary that I adapt--quickly, yet strategically. Throughout my life, I had never imagined that my high school experience would reach and exceed my expectations in the way that it did. I had the unique opportunity most people don’t get in life: to be part of a grassroots movement in establishing a culture that would enrich future students with tradition and values for many years to come.…

I remember when I was 5, the first time I went to a building daily for 8 hours. I sat down on the cold blue chair. In front of me was a bin of crayons, all the colors of the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and purple. I remember sitting in the cold room and having the freedom to draw marks on my blank sheet of paper. The dye scratching against the table, colors spreading across the canvas like the sun, rising in the early morning.…

I have taken charge of filming and editing interviews on my own during my time at KHGN-TV, a local school news network that covers stories across the school district. I was offered to sign up for the class outside of my school to work with professional equipment and use it to become a reporter for the news network. I use my time outside of school to visit campuses and attend special events to film the story and edit it on my own. When recording an episode, I am also allowed to be the director and lead the crew members on how to run the episode for it to be aired the next day. I have learned to work with my schedule and manage my time to finish work that effects the community as a whole.…

According to Joe Lambert, Digital Storytelling is more simply a framework for the discussion of the aesthetic quality of this particular form. (Lambert, 2012). The Digital story has a setting in classrooms because it can improve the students educational level and somethings that many people would not say or admit. Many classrooms do not get involved with each other and you finish the semester without knowing the person’s name that sits next to you. In this class, it helped the students identifying their weaknesses and strengths.…
