My most significant leadership experience would be when I was in the Girls Varsity Tennis Team. I had been in the tennis team during my highschool years, for 2 years. During that time I learned a lot about being a leader, such as what it means to lead others, and what qualities a leader should have. When I first started playing tennis I started at the position on 2nd doubles, to me I took it as that I was not good enough to play against an opponent by myself on the court. Which was entirely true, because when I began playing I was not any good whatsoever.…
One time I assumed leadership was when I was a leader at Higher Ground. Higher Ground is a leadership building camp in the mountains of Colorado. Campers spend a week in the mountains doing extreme actives such as rock climbing, water rafting, and high ropes courses. I was a camper at first then they invited me back a second year to be a leader. My responsibilities were that I made sure all first time campers got the most out of every activity.…
Gretchen, First you are very welcomed, and second I hope you stayed warm during Ben’s game, it was cold for the middle of May. I’ll take advantage of the students having band rehearsal, and get my mom’s lawn mowed and trimmed as it is suppose to be a nice sunny and warm day. Take care, and as always thank you for sharing your students with me. See you on Monday.…
Something I’m Good At Band This is about how much I love band so far. Band is a really fun competitive subject. We go to competitions in towns near Pearsall, Texas and you make new friends.…
Once upon a time, I was in class, more specifically, band class. In the recent years of me being in band, we have been fundraising money to go on a trip to Branson, Missouri. Ever since the eighth grade, our band director has said we will being going on the in the spring of 2017.…
Sometimes opportunities emerge and before realizing it they’ve changed your life forever. I’ve been a member of my school orchestra for about 8 years now. Every year the band gets the opportunity to travel to Florida for spring break and go to Disney World as well as perform there. For years it's been a band trip that they do every 4 years. Surprisingly during my 10th grade year it was announced that the orchestra would be going on the trip the next year as well.…
Joining band We were in 5th grade and the teachers said we were allowed to choose some things for our schedule. One of the things we were allowed to choose was a fine arts class, which meant we could choose band, choir, or theater arts. When my sister was in 5th grade she had to choose, she chose choir, she was a natural at singing. I think my parents thought I would choose choir also, because my sister did.…
To accept a challenge is daunting, whereas to seek out a challenge is rewarding. This realization came to me during my middle school band experience and has followed me to this day. No longer do I wonder why the avid runner enters a marathon or why the science whiz takes incredibly difficult chemistry courses. Although these tasks seem mountainous to others, those who enjoy these activities run toward the challenge with open arms. My challenge came to me in the form of a clarinet, some sheet music, and the glory that was being first chair, a position of distinction among the other clarinetists in the band that was designated to the most skilled player.…
Band has produced the best experiences I had in my life. It was the flint that needed to be striked and once sparked the fire could not calmed. The fire burns with a white hue and joins with other flames to become stronger. This is the passion for a love of music and the community of other musicians joining together. I am happy to say that i regret nothing when it comes to band.…
It was a Thursday, I walked in the band room being greeted by all my band members that were all excited, I felt the opposite. I was full of anxiety, very spaced out to the world; myself being a senior, being my last year of marching band meant I was high candidate on being chosen to be a band leader. My past drum major look at me and told me “relax, breathe, you will be fine and good luck”. As my ex-drum major step on the podium, she explain how it was one of the best experiences of her life leading this band and it was a great pleasure. I sat there, thinking…breathe, and I turned to the clock.…
One experience that helped me grow as a person this year was band. It helped me grow as a musician, going to all the concerts made me better and stronger, I’ve gotten stronger on the Marimba since September. Another experience was playing basketball. SInce 6th grade, when I got cut, i’ve have gotten so much better. I can drive a lot better, shoot better, and dribble better, but there is always more room for improvement, for example my left hand.…
I have been playing piano since I was eleven. In those years, I have experienced that my growth in music has benefitted all areas of my life, and vice versa. I always have believed that real music is conceived by everything else in the universe, except for music itself. Every piece of music is a completely different species of emotion, color, suspense, and without having life experience of say, being in a state of resigned despair, I would have been able to explore the Bach 6th Partita.…
When I was young, nothing made me happier than my parents surprising me with tickets to a Badger game. It didn’t matter if it was football, basketball, or hockey, I was excited to see the Badgers win, and hear the band celebrate with them. One of my favorite memories is from High School Band Day in 2014. I got rejected to homecoming on the bus there, but once I got in the stadium and saw the marching band rehearsing, my sorrows vanished for good. I couldn’t believe that I got to play during half time at a badger game!…
Besides being a student-athlete and yogi in training, I play the drums in my high school band. My passion for the drums sparked in my middle school band class, and from there I practiced twice a week at home with my older brother. Now, I play the drums at home to clear my mind and as an artistic expression. Currently, I am taking a band course at my high school where I have learned more rhythms and techniques. My band is scheduled to perform a concert in February, in addition to the May Senior Farewell Concert.…
Last summer at band camp it all began the doom that resides whether my parents are going to kill me or not. The incident that caused me and my best friends ultimate doom. It all began when Jenny jumped off the bridge into water everyone followed except Jessica and when we were all in the river she disappeared and we still can’t find her and our parents believe that we as a group made her disappear. The people in involved are me (ally), jaydon, Lucy, Alex, and Veronica, and Jenny. Let’s start from where it all began band camp it was the last week of band camp and we all wanted to have a little fun before going back to school so we all decided that the night before we had to leave we’ll sneak out and do something we haven’t before.…
