Personal Narrative: My Road Trip To Lake Tahoe

Improved Essays
I went on a road trip to Lake Tahoe with my friends the week after graduation in June. We rented a cabin near the lake and spent four nights kayaking, hiking, and exploring different scenic spots throughout the area. My favorite (and scariest!) part of the trip was working up the courage to jump off a 20 foot cliff into the lake. The trip was a great way to wrap up our time at UCLA, and it gave us a chance to hang out together one last time before we went our separate ways.

I would donate a large percentage of my wealth to funding Alzheimer’s research because my grandfather had the disease, and I have seen firsthand how devastating it can be. In addition, as the baby boomer generation continues to age, there will be more Alzheimer’s patients

That minute we got a call at a trailer in Dutton Mill Village, Hannah asked if she could come along, but I unfortunately had to tell her no because she hasn't had enough training. Also she hasn't passed a police training course. We pulled up to the place, when we parked there was a shot that shattered a rear driver door on one of our Tahoes. We all took cover on the right side of the cars and assumed that it was a sniper, then we heard another shot; Flat front driver tire of one of our cars. Then another shot; ricocheted off the roof of the SUV I was using for cover, I radioed for a second tem to close the person in from the South (we were on the North side of the person).…

It was his first day of school, he texted me through out the day, basically saying she was annoying and such a goody two shoes, in which she was. He said how her sister Bianca was all over him and over Xavier too. So he texted me the address of the cabin, and I went for a drive with a shotgun in the backseat of my Tahoe. Is it the right thing to do? Maybe not.…

One of the first things I remember about going on that trip is looking down at my feet and thinking that I would die if I fell. I was nine and very light-headed at the time. It was the winter of 2009 and one of the first times I had ever gone to Colorado. The drive there took about 6 hours from our house so you can imagine my excitement at finally getting out of the car as an inpatient nine-year-old. We were renting a small two story log cabin with a hot tub on the second- floor balcony from a family that had a winter home somewhere in Florida.…

Two thousand five hundred eighty-seven. I could take an eight-hour flight or a casual thirty-seven-hour drive, but no matter what, I am still two thousand five hundred eighty-seven miles away from my home in New Haven, Connecticut. Being a college freshman, trying to juggle class, homework, projects, studying, sleeping, eating, and athletics; finding the travel time to go home is an almost impossible task. Add in the cost of the $600 flights round trip and there is no chance a student can go visit home when they feel a little homesick. I on the other hand had never even fathomed being homesick from the frozen tundra I called home.…

In January of last year I went on a trip to Colorado on a "college visit" with a friend and my father to University of Colorado Boulder. We left Wednesday night, skipping school both Thursday and Friday. We did go to the college and took a tour of the campus on Thursday which I greatly enjoyed, it is beautiful out there and at elevation there is very little humidity. The true intention of the trip, as important as the college visit was, was to go to Breckenridge Resort and spend the weekend snowboarding. A couple of my dad's friends were also going and we were going to share their timeshare.…

Throughout my life I have experienced many events have laid down the foundation for the future I am building. One of the most influential and eye-opening was a trip I took to Yosemite National Park during my junior year of high school. The trip was offered to high school students in Northern California, provided by the McConnell Foundation- an independent foundation that awards grants to nonprofit organizations, public education, and government entities. The goal of the trip was to educate students on the importance of the national park, learn about its ecology, explore its natural wonders, and to interact with and meet other students.…

The next morning, Mercy surprised Surina by joining her for breakfast on the sunny terrace in the backyard of her cottage. They enjoyed the leisurely meal to the sound of honey bees buzzing around an assortment of flowers in full bloom lining the edges of the garden. Indeed, the fragrance of the rhododendrons, chrysanthemums, foxgloves, roses, and lilies of the valley intermingled to create a unique heavenly perfume. In the past, Surina’s kinetic pace never allowed her enough time for breakfast other than a hasty granola bar before frantically rushing off to the hospital. In contrast, today she luxuriated in a proper full English breakfast.…

It was the summer of 2007, and my parents thought that it would be a brilliant idea to go on a family road trip to some unknown location. This was the summer before I started high school and I wasn’t in the family bonding mood for a day let alone two weeks. With me being an only child, grandchild, and great grandchild, I was the only kid with five adults in a minivan. Why my parents thought that this was a good idea is still beyond my imagination.…
