Personal Narrative: My Road Trip To Alberta

Improved Essays
In summer 2014, my family went on a road trip to alberta. The trip to get there took two and a half days of full on driving. It took us the first two days to drive out of ontario; which was the most boring part of the trip. Looking out the window the only thing to be seen most of the time were different trees, deer, gas stations and more trees.

Now we were no strangers to road trips having y taken trips to Montreal and Florida; already taken trips to Montreal and Florida; we had our car games, DVDs and music there to keep us occupied. We killed a lot of time talking about all the things we planned to do when we got to Alberta and all the people we had to visit. Since we used to live in Edmonton, we had tons of family we were excited to go

The land was very flat, mostly farming land with different types of wheat, corn and gorgeous flowers of all kinds of colours. We stopped a few times to take photos with the flowers, though we were all tired and groggy from the long car ride and so we wound up looking like death in the photos.

After a few hours, we noticed a more mountainous terrain passing us by and my dad laughed and yelled out,

“Look outside! We’re here!” his voice full of relief and excitement.

We drove around for a bit while my dad explained to my mom what to type into the very old GPS, we looked out the window to see the beauty that is Alberta badlands seemingly untouched by man's destruction. After a bit, we reached Drumheller and watched the road and the mountainous area roll by.

When my dad stopped the car, my brother stared at a near empty parking lot and than to my dad,

“Where are we?” he asked unblocking his seat belt,

My dad opened his door “just come on” he said and started to walk away from the van. We all followed him across the hot black asphalt under the high noon sun until we reached the white coloured pavements and looked

There are many places I hold dear to my heart such as traveling to the mountains, visiting my grandma or going down to the Russian River and swimming in the freezing green river. But one particular place that stands out in my memory is Mount Shastina. We have gone to Mount Shastina during times of snow and during times of intense heat, which has exposed me to different activities that depend upon the climate. I have been going there, to McCloud, which is North of Mt. Shasta, with my family for as long as I can remember. In the center of a desert lies our rustic cabin with 3 bedrooms and a nice fireplace to keep us warm.…

Over summer I went with some friends to the Johnson Shut-ins in Missouri. It was the first time I went camping in years and it was one of the coolest trips I’ve ever been on. It started with the drive which was about two and a half hours through isolated roads which eventually got kind of creepy because we were in the middle of nowhere, every house had confederate flags posted, and we were running out of gas. We finally found the place and found our campground and we wanted to find out what the shut-ins were exactly. It was on the other side of the campground…

With the windows down, the crisp, cool summer air permeated throughout my body, acquiring every hair to stand at attention. Buffalo surrounded and granged lazily through the corn fields that shot high to the sky, as if every row was assembled soldiers getting ready to march. South Dakota is known for open fields with a consumed, laid back lifestyle with not much ever going on. Going into the trip knowing this, I was not in the least bit excited. It was when I absorbed the laid back atmosphere and appreciated every single bit of their way of life.…

I remember the moment my mom told me we were moving to another town. I was only about 6 or 7 when it happened so I was rather excited when I heard the news. When I heard the news we were moving to Spearfish, South Dakota, which I had never heard of, I was wondering what kind of place it was. I am from the small town of Wall, South Dakota which unless you’re talking about a village, is pretty small. When I heard the news I wondered what kind of place a town called Spearfish might look like.…

Times have been rough, but I am sure you are aware of this. I am writing to you in a time of extremely dire circumstances. During a case I was part of not too long ago a discourteous lawyer absolutely engulfed in his work decided to say such words that have lifted a forgotten sprit within me. After speaking to the Attorney General about allowing 'mixed company' to be present in cases about prostitution, I was much too overjoyed about winning that I failed to realize the many injustices that are still prevailing, ruining our fellow sisters. It is because of this reason that when I heard such infantile words come out of that lawyers mouth was I absolutely appalled.…
