Personal Narrative: My Road To States

Improved Essays
Road to States It was a foggy September Morning, and the start to the Mid Penn High school golf championship was just one hour away. I've made it to the Mid Penn Championship three times now, the last two years, I was unable to shoot the score needed to get me into the District three championships. This was my last year and I had to make the most of it to show myself and others that I can go somewhere with this sport. I've only played four years of competitive golf. Before Golf, I was a travel hockey player who spent much of his time practicing at the rink and on the road to tournaments. It eventually became too much for my family, and I decided to take a year off from playing hockey, that one year, became five years, and during that time …show more content…
I played on a tour over the summer that gets more recognition from colleges, I didn’t play that great in the tournaments I played, but after that was over, I thought I might as well start to take it serious from there on out, I started working on my swing with PGA Hall of Famer Mike Swisher who made me a much better player with my swing. I started seeing huge improvements right away. I went into the season with high expectations and confidence. Senior year started at Hershey Country Club East course where I would go on to win the tournament shooting a 73, the next tournament I was on track to shooting par (71) and blew up my last three holes to lose by one stroke to teammate Timmy Cooper. The rest of my season went pretty good; I struggled at Mid Penns shooting an 82 to make a playoff and would move onto Districts, at Districts, I shot 73-77 for a two day total of 150 that placed me at 10th, I qualified for the regional tournament and couldn’t get the ball to the green, I ended my season shooting and 84 and would miss the state championship by 6 strokes. It was just one of those bad rounds of golf that everyone has and unfortunately, it happened on a day where I needed a decent round to make the State Championship. I’ve come a long way in 4 years and am currently thinking about going somewhere with golf in my near future, I’ve been asked about golf from Division 1 schools like University of Arizona, and Coastal Carolina University, but haven’t decided

and I started to hit well again but this reminded me that always stick to what works don't change something if it's not broken and for the rest of that tournament I hit well and always remembered that a great event can humble you. Now i'm gonna talk about what type of bat I was using and believe this or not me and my parents just bought this bat two days before the tournament and came in handy I guess. Well the bat I was using was called a Easton S1 Junior Big Barrel Bat.…

I agree with your post. I also felt that with each state having a myriad of laws that aren’t necessarily congruent with other states, let alone the federal government, would make it difficult if not impossible to have a single court. Therefore, with the way our system is set up, it is a necessity to have a multi-tiered court. When looking at the downside, I hadn’t contemplated the fact of jurisdictional conflict.…

It was like, it was only me and the golf course and another day at the office. Before we headed out Mr. Hill huddled us in a circle and gave us three seniors, Morgan, Gabby, and myself an emotional speech telling us, “No matter what, I just want you guys to have fun and even if you do bad, know that I know you tried your best.” Which made us burst into tears like the Niagra falls. I started off great and made my big numbers from yesterday small and my small numbers even smaller. Cutting to the chase, I defeated my girl by seven, giving me hope that we had a chance because I knew Morgan could get the other four strokes easily and Gabby could get one or two, and still have plenty of strokes left over.…
