My Journey to IUPUI My road to Indianapolis University- Purdue University was not an easy one emotionally. Over the course of the last year my journey to becoming a college student was definitely not what I expected it was going to be nor how hard mentally it would become. I thought that I was going to get into my dream school, IU Bloomington, without any problem given my grades and extracurricular involvement. But, my SAT was an average score and that wasn’t good enough. On March 10, 2017, my thought of college changed forever. I was informed that I had been waitlisted and then the real college search began. In the Fall of 2016, I applied to two colleges, IU Bloomington as my number one and Ball State as my end of the road backup. I live

Transitioning occurs in all stages of life whether it’s from a baby crawling to walking, or an elder moving from their home to a retirement facility. One transition in life that most of us face is the evolution from high school to a college or a university. With moving into a new phase of my life I was optimistic about the difficulties of becoming comfortable with the population, the diversity, and the college life in general that Wayne State provides. I made the leap to a big city called Detroit from a small city called my home. I live in a small urban city, downriver, called Wyandotte.…

I would first like to thank Frostburg State University for accepting me in their institution and giving me the chance to further my education after my high school scholar years. I have enjoyed my time at Frostburg State University and with hard work I have been able to make the dean’s list and be accepted in the Honors program during the first semester of my freshman year. I hope to continue to work even harder during the second semester and throughout my school career. As a small university, Frostburg has enabled me to benefit from many things, such as the small size classes. Now that I have gotten used to college and life on campus, I believe it is time to continue to push myself to work harder and to attend an institution where I could be academically challenged and can be surrounded by many people who share my profession.…

My graduate experience will be light years different then my undergraduate training. I chuckle just contemplating the technological difference alone. Back when I attended undergraduate school there wasn’t the internet, the LoudCloud, e-books, or personal laptop computers. We thought we were “hot stuff” because we progressed from the slide ruler to a state of the art Texas Interment graphing calculator. By the way google informed me that my particular calculator at that time was the first of its kind.…

I always thought I would go out of state far away for college, but my family is too important for me to stray so far. Last year with my school, I took many tours of different colleges in Missouri but University of Missouri was the one that stood out most to me because of the beautiful campus, the involved students, the hundreds of clubs, and all the traditions. I knew mizzou was the one after only one visit. I collected packets and devoured information to make sure I met up to all the qualifications. I applied to only one college and when my yellow tiger package finally arrived, I couldn't help overflowing with excitement.…

Spelman College was never my “dream school” or one of the schools I planned on attending. After getting rejected from my top two schools, North Carolina State University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, I began to lose all hope. I became very lost, I didn’t know where I was going to school because I wasn’t really interested in any other schools. My friend Michael, who was planning to attend Morehouse College, was the one who motivated me to apply to Spelman.
