Personal Narrative: My Reading

Improved Essays
Reading-
I will find time to read every night for at least 30 min. This will help me keep a consistent reading schedule that will allow me to manage my time wisely while still getting to read every day. I can do this by making a designated time for myself to read each night before I go to bed. I will need to create a routine for myself to follow in regards to my reading. When I read, I will make sure I slow down enough to fully absorb all the details the author has put in the book. I often become so caught up in the plot that I end up skimming the pages just to find the resolution. To fix this I can take small breaks while reading to force myself to slow down and review the book.

As a child growing up in Rhode Island, the smallest state in the Union, the idea of a vast planet brimming with civilization and culture was more like something out of a fairy tale than it was reality. So, when my father announced that we would be leaving the country to go to Scotland, the home of his and my ancestors, my world began to expand at a rapid pace. This trip could not have been timed more perfectly. The summer of 2007 marked the end of fourth grade, my first year at Saint Mary Academy Bay View.…

Normally while reading a novel I will stop if I don’t understand a concept and will try to clarify it, but if it is something like a word I don’t understand or a reference to someone outside of the novel I sometimes skip over it. This is not good to do because the book may be referencing or explaining something of importance that I then miss out on. I also need to improve on staying focused on my novel. While I am reading it is easy for me to get distracted, making it difficult to remember where I was in the book or lose my train of thought. This is very annoying as it can cause me to take longer to read the novel and even maintain interest in…

I always regretted not asking more questions. It is normal to have doubt and questions, despite what some people may say, and I always wish I had expressed that more. Although, who knows where I would be if I had. Would I have found the right answers, rooted my faith in God, and not even be in this class because I chose to take Campus Ministry? Would I have gotten in trouble for “being disruptive” by asking the questions that do not really have answers?…
