Personal Narrative: My Pursuit Of Religion

Improved Essays
I have heard your pleas and am pleased to hear about your pursuit of religion. While I would be gladly willing to give you that opportunity, I cannot. I have heard from some of your fellow voyagers of your tyranny actions while exploring throughout these newly found lands. I am happy to hear of your success in finding lands, but I am not glad to hear about the way you have treated their people. The goal was to discover new places, not to ruin them. You have been able to do both of them. I have been told of the terrible jobs you made these innocent people endure, such as a pearl diver. I can’t even understand how you could look at a man and send him to his death. It is unacceptable and won’t be acknowledged. I am sorry to hear about the

My religious community has played a profound role on my development as an adult, the three guiding principals of Zoroastrianism: "Good Thoughts, Good Deeds, and Good Words" guide my actions daily. Being part of such a small community while heightening my sense of being has also made me more appreciative and understanding of other cultures & groups. For me understanding others has become a key component in understanding myself. My community has also enabled me to be a better communicator- as often times questions are asked regarding my ethnicity and religion where I can act as a spokesperson for the…

When I got to the scene, I realized that my responsibility was magnitudes higher than what I had thought beforehand. Before me lay a seven year old boy, with no pulse or breathing. My fellow lifeguards immediately went into action, starting CPR. Meanwhile, I ran to call 911 with the information I had quickly gathered at the scene. While waiting for the ambulance to arrive, I managed to flag down a passing police vehicle and led him to the victim.…

Many people don’t know what they want to be when they “grow up”, as for my mother she didn’t know what type of religion she wanted to be in when she “grew up”. However, she did know the basics that she believed in which was God, the Holy Spirit, his son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Bible that being said she considered herself Christian and raised me as a Non-Denominational Christian. That was until my senior year of High School when my mom decided she no longer wanted to be part of the Non-Denominational Christian faith and switched over to becoming part of the LDS faith known as the Mormons and flipped my life upside-down with their different views of norms and values. Growing up Non-Denominational Christian is fairly simple faith and to me…

Christianity has always been a vast part of my life and an abundant part of me. I grew up in a Methodist church, the same one my parents were married in, and where I was baptized. My childhood memories are filled with skipping down the church halls to Sunday school and playing in our chimes and bells groups. Although I am not an extraordinarily talented singer, I was even a member in our children’s choir. I spent many summers at our Grand Mesa Methodist Church Camp and participating in our vacation bible school.…

Going through my closet every day looking for something to wear, I can only find skirts and dresses. As a little girl, my mother would always dress me in a navy-blue uniform dress or skirt with tights and boots. I would tell my classmates I would dress this way because I was forced by my mother but, I only said that to cover up the real reason. I was afraid of being made fun of and I felt as though everyone made assumptions about me because I dressed differently, instead of getting to know my personality. Growing up in a religious home as a young girl, my parents instilled in me a strong basis of religion.…

What will it be like when God breaks into our lives? Will he come like a waterfall breaking free of winter’s ice? There will be a sudden roar and abrupt release; ice crashing, water flung like diamonds into the sunlight, aerosols rising into the sunlight, rainbows dancing; a whole winter of frozenness shattering, waters releasing. The flood flows inward, filling our spirits, lifting us into a wondrous new life. Exhilarating, isn’t it?…

Growing up in a christian household, Christ was always present in my life. I was born in Bogota, Colombia where I would only live there for four years before coming to the United States. I had always heard the gospel at home, always eagerly attended sunday school and Vacation Bible School. But it wsn 't until my summer camp of 2012 when I heard a former wrestler talking about how our personal relationship with Jesus should look like, how he wants to be our best friend and the one we tell all our secrets to, the one we take counsil in; it wasn 't until that very sermon that I felt that unforgettable tugging in my heart. That day I knew what the gospel was really all about, it wasn 't the fascinating parables, nor the thrilling worship songs.…

On August 26, 2005, I gave my life to Christ, and it was the start of a whole new chapter of my journey. I still remember that night vividly in my head. The feelings of excitement, joy, and love were very tangible in my heart. My mom and dad were both sitting beside me on my bed while I was told the importance of this decision and how my life would never be the same. Even at 5 years old, I was aware of my decision to follow Jesus and accept him into my heart.…
