Therefore, I declared as a biology major at the University of Texas in pursuit of becoming a doctor. Coming from a small school, I did not realize how rigorous the courses at UT would be. Especially the science courses. However, at the start of my Spring semester, I felt that my study tactics and ability to comprehend the material improved. I loved the coursework, but there was one problem I stumbled upon: I did not want to be a doctor anymore. I didn’t feel happy with the thought of being a doctor for the rest of my life. I felt as if I wouldn’t get as much out of it as I would if I became a nurse. Sure the pay is great, but at the end of the day I would rather feel a one-on-one connection with my patients.
