Upon beginning my practicum experience at the YWCA, I was not entirely sure what to expect. I showed interest in the specific setting of domestic violence because I wanted to help victims overcome the horrible acts of violence that they may have been subjected to. Throughout my placement, I have learned first-hand that social work can be very unpredictable. I have watched many clients come and go throughout our program. Majority of the time, our clients are very active on seeking housing, childcare, and employment. However, there are also clients that refuse to work towards housing and employment.
