Personal Narrative: My Personal Privacy

Personal Privacy and the Internet Learning about personal information on the internet has made me a lot more cautious than I use to be. I use to just post what came to mind on to social media. Now, knowing that it never goes away and future employers of mine can go back and see everything that was posted of me or from me makes it a lot scarier. I never really thought about what happens to something after you put it out there for the world to see. I realize now that any picture or information that I post about myself anyone can see it and use it. Even personal messages can be looked into. Facebook is where I spend most of my time and is how I stay in contact with people. That’s how I communicate back and forth with family and friends. I feel uncomfortable now that I know every conversation that I have isn’t just between me and the other person, but belongs to the web site that I’m having it on. Not only is that it really easy for a stranger to use the information I post against me. When I first got my license I was so excited that I took a picture of it and put it on my page. That wasn’t smart on my part because it has my address birthdate and my full name on it. …show more content…
I don’t want to be applying for my dream job and loose that chance of working there because they went on my Facebook page and saw something they didn’t want to see. I don’t want to risk the chances of losing job opportunities for something that was posted years ago. So it’s smart to really consider all the possibilities that can come from posting something. I realize easy it is for someone to hack your personal information. They can get into your personal files without your email and password. Then, they can see all your messages, pictures and personal information you didn’t want to get out. Although the Internet and social media is fun, it should be taken seriously and handled
