Personal Narrative: My Personal Point Of View

The first thing I noticed was the color. It was faded in one section. The different layers were now becoming visible. The pattern of the couch reminded me of it. I sat in the spot. I sunk to the middle. It was perfectly curved inward. I saw that the soft fabric isn't the same as it used to be. I thought about getting it fixed, but it is much easier to just ignore. The look of the couch made me want to take a minute to reconsider my decision. I unzipped the cover and took it apart piece by piece.

These visions were old worn couches with tears and rips all over them. They would be ratted, smelly, disgusting and worst of all: plaid. In Shenanigans, I was proven so wrong and thank the Lord for that. The furniture stood for itself with black leather couches, and some worn stools that looked in good condition, all of it seemed relatively clean which eased my mind. A man was at the front desk sketching something very intently as I walked up to him timidly.…

Faith is the belief in something greater than us one can put full trust, confidence, and reliance on when difficult times arise. I was raised to be involved with church activities to maintain my spiritual life; additionally my faith grew dramatically when my cousin deceased and gave me an overview of what I wanted to pursue my career as. When I was a child, my parents encouraged me to always be as loving and caring as I could be, not for personal gain, but to be benevolent to the people around me. After writing my narrative, I feel that I told the story quite well. I believe I did because my personal narrative takes the reader on my journey to reading with confidence. In the text I give the readers insight into why I struggled with reading out loud and how I overcame it. I think that my piece of writing can be improved by creating more descriptive memories. For example, in the first two paragraph I describe my teacher Mrs. Robinson, but I never describe the atmosphere of the classroom.…

Everyone has a haunting moment in their life, one that’s so traumatizing and horrible that it perpetually replays in their minds. For me, that moment occurred in the early days of summer 2015. I was stuck home babysitting my two little siblings for the day while the rest of my family was in Baton Rouge at some birthday party I didn't go to because I really didn’t like the entire parents hosting it. You know the type. The ones that don’t know what a blinker is.…

This reflects a conflict I often have between my thoughts and my ambitions Often there is something I want to do, but I give up because of cowardice.…

“What are you?” is a question I have been long plagued with. My family tree has branches sprawling across the continents. My father immigrated to America from Ghana, West Africa, while my mother’s ancestors hail from the Black Forest region of Germany. For as long as I can remember,I have been living a split life. Every year when the crisp chill of winter dissolves into fresh spring air, my family and I start the voyage to our home in the coastal fishing town of Teshie Nungua, Ghana.…
