“ I succeed on my own personal motivation, dedication, and commitment. My mindset is: if I’m not out there training, someone else is.” -Lynn Jennings- In the past few years I realized how passionate i was for running. To learn how I transitioned from being a person who wasn’t enthused about running; to a person who now can’t live without it. When I first started running it didn’t come natural to me. I had to put forth effort and time, in order to get where i am today. Running has helped me see that I could reach my absolute potential by setting a new goal when my previous goal was achieved. My difficulties lie within getting my: posture, form, breathing, and focus in motion and to keep it all in motion. Another difficult challenge I am faced with that is involved with running is remembering to hydrate and to stay hydrated. Hydration is a task that i fail at doing most times because, since there is no taste to water it never makes me feel full; so I drink more than i should so when i am running the water is sloshing in my stomach and then i feel sick. Keeping up on running is hard to do some days, due to that i am just extremely tired after some days. Even though most days were tougher than other I never allowed myself to give up at something I knew I would love. Seeing my times get faster, shows to me that the: dedication, effort, and time put in are proof that practice does make perfect. Some people run to stay in shape or to lose weight; where I run for personal enjoyment along with a connection i have with running. When i run i feel exhausted, and glee. My times are at their best when I am: frustrated, sad, or having a bad day. Running is my stress reliever and the non addictive drug which i am addicted

Throughout the book, Walls endured many struggles while traveling with her dysfunctional family. Jeannette’s father is constantly getting in the way of her success, from stealing her money to not always making her go to school. Eventually, she leaves her parents behind and makes her way to New York City, where she goes to college and finds success. Similar to how Jeannette had to overcome the obstacles between her and her success, her parents in The Glass Castle, I had to overcome the obstacle between me and my success, my bones.…

When i run on my own, i usually listen to music. The lyrics and beat of the song “ Hall of Fame” help me go faster and control my breathing a lot more easier. They also help me not give up, because believe me, eight miles isnt easy. My favorite part is when they say “Dedicate yourself and you gon’ find yourself, standing in the Hall of Fame, and the world’s gonna know your name, cause you’ll burn with the brightest flame”. These lyrics are trying to tell people to pursue their dreams even when others try to put them down.…

All the early morning practices running long miles, pushing myself to my limit, really raised my endurance and tolerance level for getting tired. On a daily basis, I am asked why I run. When people think of running, they think of absolute pain and distress. However, when I think of running, I think of freedom and strength. Running gives a sense of relief from the stresses of daily life; whenever I have a difficult day, jogging along trails and dirt roads instantly rids of the strain of the day. While training myself for the race, I learned that you couldn’t do that with running. You could injure yourself, which could only be more of a setback that could prevent you from reaching your goal. Every day I pushed myself for a faster time and to run longer. Likewise, in my schoolwork, I pushed myself to study well in advance before the test and gradually build up on what I was studying every night. All in all, running has taught me that sometimes patience can go a long way in order to succeed in whatever I have my heart set…
