Personal Narrative: My Personal Leadership Philosophy

My personal leadership philosophy is to get to know how a certain individual works before I start trying to lead and put the information together. Some people like to get their work done immediately and only need a few words of direction while others work at a much slower pace and need much more direction. I was leading a group of 4 people in one of my business classes last year in a project we had to about Italy’s economy. One of the girls in my group was incredibly difficult to deal with, picked fights with everybody, and was the least productive member. In order to minimize the stress and increase productivity I was the only person that communicated with her and met with the rest of the group separately. I also told her far in advance exactly what she needed to do, and constantly reminded her so there was no confusion. …show more content…
To take care of this problem I told her if she finished her part and sent it to us before we met in the library it would be okay. Another example is about a guy in my group for the Italy project who simply didn’t do work that was good enough to put in the final version. Most of the time he would as little as possible and think it was good enough. He could however, meet in the library a lot so I made a point with him to do our work together so I could make sure we would only have to look up that information once instead of doing it multiple times. These are just a few examples of how my personal leadership philosophy works.
