I know that I am passionate about teaching and helping others, but I am still deciding what specific education/career track I will commit to. Currently, I am interested in high school education, collegiate student affairs, or establishing an educational non-profit.

Behavior: Since our last meeting, I have sought out multiple resources for guidance on these three paths. I have attended information nights for the PACE program and spoken with professionals in student affairs. I still am looking into the non-profit aspect.

Impact: By taking the initiative to seek out these opportunities and reflect on the matter, I am gaining a clearer vision of my three prospective paths. Although I am still uncertain of my path, I now have a more narrow focus of what I am looking for and how I can accomplish it.

#3 Situation: After reflection on my five year goals, I began to narrow the focus of what I want to achieve.

Behavior: My five year plan has caused me to set goals in the areas that I believe will lead me to a more fulfilling life overall. These areas include relationships, finances, education, career, and

The Leadership Challenge discusses “strengthen (ing) resilience” (pp 206). I am the kind of person who wants all of my ducks in a row so when one or two are out of line, I get flustered not to mention overwhelmed to the point wanting to quit. The past few years have been one of loss in various ways; my father’s passing, my beloved pet for nine years passing, my husband’s illness, the loss of our house as well as the loss of my husband’s and partner’s business. Even though we are still reeling with the impact of what we have been hit with, we continue to encourage one another emotionally to look ahead, not dwell on the past.…

I have tried to obtain leadership roles in various extracurricular activities throughout my high school career to help make a bigger impact on kids life's. I love to lead and be apart of something that is positive, for example being apart of FFA has shown me how far a simple ten cans of food can do. I know when I donate and see the impact it has it makes me feel like a better person, the feeling is indescribable.…

One way Xavier lives up to its support for students is through the one-year long Smooth Transition mentoring program. I served as a smooth transition mentor to three incoming first-year students during the 2016-2017 academic year. In order to ensure that they have a successful first year at Xavier, I informed them about the resources Xavier University provides, including the writing center, mathematics lab, tutoring services, Ohio link, and much more. I also advised them to make good decisions and form relationships with people who would motivate them to succeed.…

I have reflected on my CPD through an analysis of metaphorical ways of making sense of my learning from K802 and E807. A metaphor is about capturing the essential nature of an experience. And an active process which is at the very heart of understanding oneself, others and practice. Applying metaphors can help express beliefs and understandings that are often tacit, implicit, and hidden from view. By openly expressing our beliefs and understandings, practitioners can start to analyse them.…
