A few days before my senior night attending Cimarron-Memorial an event was held for all senior graduates on campus. I was a well rounded individual who participated in everything from: dancing in local ballet/tap groups, being enrolled in many beneficial summer camp programs, being a member on the Culture Shock Las Vegas dance crew, to volunteering with the church, and finally taking on a leadership role in the AIDS/HIV awareness walk that impacted the community. In my last two years in the Culture Shock dance crew program I was elected for the leadership guidance position for my peers. In my own time however, I was able to assist young African-Americans students in receiving finical aid in college, organized trips to various students in the program. I’ve also helped my church members by volunteering to assist with after school bible study, which helped me become a mentor to help peers in their progression and acclimation into their first year of college and beyond. My graduate experience will be light years different then my undergraduate training. I chuckle just contemplating the technological difference alone. Back when I attended undergraduate school there wasn’t the internet, the LoudCloud, e-books, or personal laptop computers. We thought we were “hot stuff” because we progressed from the slide ruler to a state of the art Texas Interment graphing calculator. By the way google informed me that my particular calculator at that time was the first of its kind.…
