Personal Narrative: My Personal Ethics

Decent Essays
I would like to believe that I learned my personal ethics from my family more importantly my parents. Growing up my parents thought me many things that had several messages attached to them. Those messages I now use on a daily basis most importantly in my career. One of the ethics that I could remember is to be caring and loyal friend, neighbor, family, or co-worker. Having these two ethicses has guided me to the field of psychology and is still helping me. It has helped me as a clinician and as a co-worker. This has allowed me to be able to sit down with my clients and be able to be compassionate towards them. It makes it easy for me to try and help others, which is exactly what psychology is all about. When I think about the boy who I was growing up, the young adult I am today, and the man I plan to be in the forthcoming years, one aspect of my life stands out to me far more radiantly than anything else: my culture, my skin, my identity as a Bangladeshi-American. There aren't many clubs or organization for Bangladeshi Americans such as myself. Make no mistake, there are certainly events for Bangladeshis living in the United states, many that I have attended due to various entreaties from my parents. These are event where the only language spoken is one that I barely speak (Bengali), the only music conversed about is that which I don't listen to or understand, and the only events discussed happen in another country that I have spent only a…

On Wednesday July 8th, I engaged in something that I never necessarily would have done before, I purposely brought attention to myself. I engaged in breaking a social norm and called attention to my behavior, and by extension my appearance. I allowed myself to become the focus of someone’s attention because of my blatant disregard of the social norms that have been set up within our society. Alongside with my partner, Andrea Armengol, we quietly and stealthily entered an elevator in the Miami Regional Dialysis Center building at Jackson North Hospital at around 1 o’clock in the afternoon. There was an array of people whom my partner and I encountered inside of the elevator, one of the youngest unknowing participant in our experiment could…

There are many ethical theories that serve to provide a foundation on which people can find solutions to ethical and moral questions in life. Some examples of ethical theories are Utilitarianism, Kantian Ethics, and Natural Law Theory. I have my own personal ethical theory that I use to make ethical decisions, and some of the ethical theories that have been presented to me have had an impact on my personal theory. Issues regarding ethics are dealt with on a daily basis and one of these issues is gene altering and human cloning.…
