Decent Essays
Nursing has been my passion ever since I was a little girl growing in the West African country of The Gambia. When I was little, I was infected with malaria and got admitted at the hospital. I was cared for by one terrific nurse who gave me the utmost care possible. Ever since, she and I became dear friends because of her caring and hearted behavior towards me. That day, I made a pledge to her that one day I would like to be caring nurse like her .I believe I would have died of malaria illness had it not been that wonderful nurses’ caring. I am grateful for her taking care of me the best she could. Nursing to me, is not just caring for an individual, it is about nurturing, understanding, and promoting the wellbeing of an individual as well

This made me miss some important information such as, how nurses in NCBH hand over to the next shift, but aside that, I had a wonderful day working with nurse Mrs. Osei. She welcomes me by introducing herself, which I responded likewise. She took me with her to do her morning rounds and administer medication to her assigned patient. After we were done with her morning medication, I went to one of her patient whom I was assign to by Mrs. Natasha to perform mini mental survey and general assessment on the patients.…

TIn her last years, my grandmother Jean Coleman VanDieren was cared for by skilled professionals at St. Joseph 's Bluffs Nursing Home in Jefferson City, Missouri, and I am so thankful and appreciative for the outstanding care the staff provided. I am also deeply grateful for the spiritual care and guidance given by Chaplain Mueller as well. My grandmother´s battle with Parkinson’s Disease was not easy, and the care and attention required was demanding. I have a newfound appreciation for those who work in this capacity and will always remember this particular nursing staff at St. Joseph’s Bluffs. Results Interview #1 I spoke with Tanya Mace for a long period of time to decide what I wanted to do I was really planning on doing my associates in nursing but after speaking to Mrs. Mace I have come to the conclusion that I am going to do the LPN (licensed practical nursing) program and decide from there if I get accepted into the ADN in program in august I am going to hold off until I finish the LPN program then maybe do the bridge program for my RN (registered nursing).I chose to speak with Mrs. Mace because she is my academic advisor and she works with students to help them make the best decisions for their career paths. Interview #2 In my second interview I spoke to several formal and current students to see if what Mrs. Mace had told me was true. After several of the formal students told me that they had tried the R.N program first and found it very hard to go straight into the nursing program and not doing the LPN program first, and not working in the field, they felt like they were always behind the rest of the students who had previous experience.…

When I was a child and a lot of times during my adolescence I had several moments of indecision about the things that I wanted. From the simplest to the most complicated. And although it was hard to choose what to write or what flavor of ice cream to buy, I was always sure of one thing: I like to help people. That's why I chose nursing as my career to college because this was a way I found to realize my dream; being able to help my fellow man when he needs it most. Care, protect, guide and support anyone who needs, help others to face their fears and challenges, it is very rewarding!…

Few years later, I had been volunteering at a local hospital, this made me fully realize the hard work nurses put in their work line. My overall experience with the nurses that I encountered was positive. In my senior of high school, I took a course on health and human anatomy.…

As talked about in the text, nursing students can experience significant anxiety, uncertainty, and feelings of abandonment when we first encounter a complex health care environment. (Christiansen and Bell, p. 804) Clinical experience is a great learning tool, but as you talked about in your post it can be very overwhelming to nursing students. I know personally that I am very nervous to start taking care of my own patient next week at my clinical site at KU Rehabilitation Center. Knowing that I have my peers with me and that we can help each other along the way is something that I am very thankful for.…

As a case manager, my contribution as a leader is in the coordination of care in utilizing the efficient and effective use of resources. According to the American Case Management Association (ACMA) (2017), “the goal of case management is to maintain optimal patient health status across the continuum of care in a manner that emphasizes both individual control over decisions and stewardship of resources” (para. 12). Some of the functions of a case manager are in clinical assessment, care coordination, patient education, counseling, case monitoring, discharge planning, resource management, and patient advocacy. As what Marquis and Huston (2015) stated, “leaders have an extensive roles than do managers, and a title alone does not make you a…

Serving others one of the best rewards that is possible to receive. Discharging a resident and receiving a simple “thank you” brings me immaculate joy. Nursing is much more than administering medicines, hanging intravenous fluids, the aching feet, and the struggles of nursing school. Nursing is holding the hands of new babies entering the world and holding the frail, aged hands of an elder leaving the world and providing the best care and comfort for those patients to the best of my ability. I am fully aware of the hardships of nursing although, I strongly believe that through struggle and hardships come achievements and success.…
