My participation in patriotic endeavors. I remember my first participation in a run for cancer called sherry’s run. I did this run for my history teacher Mr. Pruitt because his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. I remember how sad he would be and i even saw him cry once and he is really big scary man. I remember my whole class buying t shirts to help fund some medical bills and then all going to support him at Sherry’s run. Doing something like this and helping someone out made me feel so good. From that great experience I have participated in the breast cancer walk every year in October. Having these chances to do something good for people you do not know is something incredible and provides a great feeling in my heart. I also participate

It was a rainy morning in Seattle, and I wore my Army dress uniform. Stepping off the bus, I ran 100 yards to the entrance of the Airport. After I purchased my ticket and checked my bags, I headed to the bar. It was the time of the winter equinox, and I was headed home with my discharge in my duffle bag. I suppose I should have worn my civilian clothes, but I had been stateside six months, and the comradeship I experienced in Vietnam had yet to loosen its grip on me.…

My time at Valley Forge was over, I had been fighting for general George Washington since the summer of 1775 and the victory on April 13 looked so far away because it was only late December, and it was seeming as if a turning point was unlikely. In my understanding, that was my command to do. Give selfish treatment to one man but give all credible treatment to the other, who in all shed the same blood fighting. I became deeply distraught by this segregated treatment because of some set value one man has to have just by the color of his skin. In disgust, I still had to do what was meant for me to do. I would work on the black soldiers and a woman named Clara Barton would work on the white soldiers. I grew interest into wanting to know how she felt about this unfair situation, however it was prohibited to step near her or inside the white soldier’s tent.…

Little bit of Yankee, little bit of Ya’ll. Maybe a catchy t-shirt slogan, but not necessarily untrue. Having lived half my life in both New England and the South, I often feel like a combination of my two home experiences. This can be a little unsettling: up North, I’ve “turned Southern”, but down South, I’m definitely a Northerner. Though sometimes difficult, I’ve grown to like the alternate viewpoints I’ve gained living in different locations.…

I am an American. I say it with the utmost pride and respect. Some citizens don’t stand when they hear, “The National Anthem” play, they don’t remove their hats, and sometimes they even talk over our song. They don’t feel great pride when they see The United States of America’s flag waving high in the air. Some Americans tend to think of being free, having personal rights, being allowed to speak up and many other rights as normal, but in other countries living in America and having the opportunities we have everyday is only a dream to them.…
