Personal Narrative: My Parenting

Decent Essays
I am a single mother of four beautiful children two boys and two girls. They are 10, 7, 5, and 2 which are absolutely my pride and joy. Like most moms I wish to be able to teach other children to be great people in this world. I've been a stay at home mom for 6 years on and off. Throughout that time I've found that I love to be able to teach, train, and learn new things to implement into my own parenting. After I taught my children to read & write at age 2 so that they themselves would be above average in their classes. The experience made me want to create more for other children around me and the quest has now moved me in my educational endeavors.

But then during my 10th through 11th grade years I began to experience verbal and mental abuse at the hand of a family member. At one point I had run away from home to get away from my problems.…

My father has been in the military for 30 years. His career has taken him and my family, to every corner of the world. The Air Force is a demanding career path to choose; often the spouse is left with the full weight of the chores to be done on the home front. During the course of my upbringing these duties were, in part, delegated to my sisters and I. While we never experienced “a life of almost tropical idleness’ (CITATION) like the children of Jane Smiley, we became effective and efficient members of our house hold. We learned to respect our house and our family.…

When I first learned of this assignment my first thought was to interview my mom. She is the one person in my life I am closest to. Since we are only twenty three years apart, I thought it would be best to focus on her life up to the point where she decided to have kids. Though I knew most of what she told me it was still nice to just sit and talk about her life experiences. My mother was born to older parents and was the youngest of three children.…

Shaping My Life I made myself into the person that I am today. I’m kind, caring and a person, which led me to change the way that I think and the atmosphere around me. I’ve always been caring and kind to others, and I’ve always thought about wanting to help people for the rest of my life. I changed that way that I think in several different ways, including changing how shy that I was and how I wasn’t looking people in the eyes when I talked to them. I also changed the way that the atmosphere was around me, by working hard in my life, and figuring out who my real friends were.…
