August 30, 2014 is a day that my school community and I endured one of its greatest losses. On this day, three students and friends of mine tragically passed away in a car accident. Drawing inspiration from this, I have spent the last two years planning a meaningful addition to my school that resembles not only my three friends, but also all of the lives who have passed from the Council

I have focused my attention on the use of technology and community outreach while planning the project. I created and designed the donation site, the promotional video about the project, and the class website. Furthermore, I handled social media posts and press releases that have gone out to the public.

When the project went out to the public on September 16, 2016, it surpassed its goal of $15,000 within 6 days. When the project was completed on October 15, the Serenity Garden raised a total of $18,322. It has been amazing to see how fast this project took flight, and this progress makes me extremely proud. The construction of the Serenity Garden is now complete, and was unveiled on October 15, 2016.

Upon my arrival at Commonwealth Honors Academy a mere twelve days ago I was ignorant to the fact that I was going to learn so much in my time spent here, but now I look back and realize that I have gained so much knowledge and I have acquired more details to add to what I knew before arrival. Overall I have learned that most things in life require constant attention and effort to make them truly work and that anyone you come in contact with and create an influence with will then, in turn, make a larger circle of influence that can quickly become bigger than you can ever be. The universal themes that have had the largest impact on me are the themes of Happiness, Friendship, and Sovereignty of Education. It was Aristotle who defined happiness…

When asked the question, “what is your biggest accomplishment in the area of leadership,” the same answer comes to mind every time. It is an easy question for me to answer because of the tremendous impact this experience had on my life. In my junior year of high school, the SkillsUSA advisors repeatedly approached me about the SkillsUSA Pennsylvania Western Region Leadership Conference. I didn’t know what it was until they eventually pulled me and a few top students from my school aside and told us about having a “tryout” to see who would best fit to become an officer at the leadership conference. Each of us presented a prepared speech and an extemporaneous speech.…

It is important that I learn to say no when helping others gets in the way of me accomplishing my tasks. It has not been an easy task saying no, but I am learning to be okay with saying no because it is important that it does not interfere with my responsibilities.…
