Personal Narrative: My Outside Interests

Improved Essays
My outside interests would be playing sports, volunteering, making crafts, and art. I am on a swim team and participate in intramural sports at school. I like being part of a team and meeting new people who have the same interests as me. Volunteering is fun and I hope to continue to do it; the feeling of knowing that I have helped people is really great. When I have free time, I love making crafts, the challenge that I get when I try to create something new is exciting. It makes me want to strive forward until I get the result that I want. In middle school, I was not able to take an art class, so I draw, paint, and color outside of school. I plan to continue playing music and being in leadership programs in high school. Music is a huge part of my life and that will never change, I will take music classes during high school and continue to learn new things. Being a leader is what I like to do, I have been in leadership programs such as Student Council in …show more content…
I would start this kind of business because many products these days are made in factories and by machines. I think that handmade items are worth more than machine made products. Handmade products are one of a kind; they cannot be made exactly the same. They may be similar to one another, but are not the same. Many products in stores are the same as one another because they are made by machines, but I want to start a handmade business because they are very unique. These items won't be made over and over again; they will only be made once which makes them special. Additionally, if you want to find something one of a kind to give to someone you love; you will never find it at a store. Stores sell items that can be made over and over by machines, so these handmade items have more value to them. Therefore, if i were given 40,000 dollars to start a business, I would start a handmade crafts and jewelry

Many people in my family had issues with substance abuse and addictions including my father. Although, I was raised by my mother and grandmother, my father’s actions and behaviors negatively impacted my life. What if being fucked in the mind was a metaphor for kicking the blues away? As I relive my life backwards and forwards, a reoccurring hymn becomes engraved in my nervous system: the future remains uncertain and quite possibly a utopian shade of 'I love you.' In it, a boy has grown accustom to the idea of walking through life wearing an armor made of glass. By his own account, the armor manages to showcase images of the sky falling despite being curious if the ever-changing stars will one day align in his favor. He is looking from the outside in with hopes of someone understanding how chaotic his anxiety dreams have become while worrying if outsiders, unknowingly, have or will discredit his well-being as a now 20-something year old when standing…

Sometimes, products are expensive to create and small businesses tend to struggle while trying to produce enough to lower the production and product price. It becomes more complex when competing with large firms. Missed Opportunities - Brands that produce luxury products often make mistakes like marketing it as a cheap item. Customers who love luxury products will definitely avoid the product which was marketed as a "cheap luxury."…

Artisans create a brand that includes themselves, their art and their ideas to continue being in demand (Krugh, 2014). They label their products as “handmade” in order to clearly differentiate themselves from similar products that are mass-produced and to remind consumers of the work they have put in each of their creations (Krugh, 2014). The personalisation of each item is what appeals to consumers and staying authentic is part of the brand (as cited in Krugh, 2014). Creating what the customer wants is not enough, there has to be a story involved so the product can sell and feel specials (as cited in Krugh, 2014). That is not always possible since artists cannot always create what pleases them, finances come into play which force them to create what the buyer wants just to earn some money even if they are not happy with the…
