It all started my freshman year of high school. My second year of running cross county I did not really try at first until one day when our coach said if you do not give it your all every day you cannot go to the state cross country meet. We had a few weeks till our first meet and we were far be hide but catching up fast. The times were getting faster and faster, but at the rate we were going we would not make the first meet with goo scores. We all sat down and talked “we all have to reach deep to find our true potential within us” our coach said, so we wall took it upon ourselves to do better. The next day at practice I stepped up. There were 6 weeks till state and we had a cross country meet every Saturday until state. Day by day my times

The thing about running is that you hate it until it’s over, at least for me that’s true. Personally, I like running, and it gives me a chance to get out and work towards something. All throughout high school, I’ve run track, and for two years I ran cross-country, both are great sports. The two years I ran cross-country made me wish I ran all four years. If you’re part of more than one sport, it’s natural to choose a favorite.…

I went from running a 30 minute three mile to running a 25:26 three mile and that year I got most improved. The start to my junior year of cross county wasn't all that good I hadn't ran all summer and I felt like I was back to when I first started and I was in a way it took me a while to get back into the swing of things. That year I didn't set an overall personal record on any trail which was a huge let down, but there were a few times I set a PR on the trail compared to my sophomore year times, I also got most improved that year also. The start of my senior year started off with a…

As a year-round student-athlete, balancing classwork and academics with training has been at the forefront of my entire high school career—freshman to senior year. Though the classes I undertook were rigorous and required an extreme level of commitment and attention, I persisted with my athletic career because it taught me several valuable life lessons. The sport I feel that I am most involved in is Cross Country. While only a fall sport, it is, in my opinion, one of the most physically demanding and difficult sports to compete in. We train by running upwards of thirty miles a week to compete against other teams in 5000-meter races on various terrains.…

This week was very interesting. Being it’s the beginning of five county school year and having to have a certain number of children and each center. I had the opportunity to find and help place the last 2 children that were needed to complete the requirement. Which require a lot of calling and paperwork. I did several referrals; for example, children that was wanting to get in one center but had a waiting list I referred them to another center that could take them and ensure them that transportation would be provided to and from the center.…

Ralph Waldo Emerson's quote, "Unless you try to do something beyond what you have already mastered, you will never grow", is a great and relatable quote for life. I strongly agree with this statement because I have experienced events in my life that caused me to discover myself and the world around me. Through school, athletics, and church activities, I was able to go beyond my comfort zone and participate in activities that I never thought I would do. In grade school, the work that was assigned came easily to me.…

I finished second to last in thirty minutes. In one short cross country season, my coach inspired me to keep at it, and work hard. I ended the season 35 pounds lighter, 14 minutes faster, and for the first time so proud of my accomplishments that the sting of the auditorium experience almost faded. Mr. Pinkerton said by mid-October he saw my face for the first time because I always looked down. I was motivated to succeed because the words of a bully stung so deeply in my sole.…
