The building of the foundation for our new house began as I contemplated attending my new school. First, the lot was excavated and a concrete pad serving as the foundation was poured. A mason was hired to start laying the blocks and to create the primary structure of the house. Each time I came back to view the amount of laid brick, I was reminded that we were that much closer to the framing of the house and that much closer to school starting. Two by fours were measured, cut, and nailed into place to create the shape. Trusses were ordered to create what would become the roof. Large slabs of wood were measured and placed over the outside framework. The insulation, plumbing and electric became a part of the interior framework of the house. As the framework was slowly completed, I became established at my new school. I memorized my schedule and could get to all of my classes without asking somebody where they were located. I began to make friends slowly but surely, however, I still struggled with remembering some classmate’s names. Although I was becoming better acquainted with my teachers, I was particularly struggling with Algebra. I started to make the necessary adjustments, like managing homework, classes, and relationships. I even went out for the soccer team. Once all of the structural interior work was complete, my life started coming
