American: A native or a citizen of the United States. I am not a first, second or third generation American, I am simply an American. I was born here in the United States in Augusta, Georgia. Growing up, I knew a little about my heritage from both of my parents. My father and mother are both Caucasian with some Native American heritage. My mother is part Cherokee and my father is part Cherokee and Blackfoot Indian. I know more about my father's heritage than my mother's. I learned about my culture primarily from my grandmother and my aunt. My grandmother and aunt showed me the family tree and explained to me who each person was, where they came from and how they relate to me. They also taught me many family traditions and showed me how to celebrate my heritage through participating in local pow-wows and conducting thorough research about my culture. One situation that leads me to wonder about my race was, I was once asked at school by a classmate if my father was Hispanic so, I took the initiative to find out. Most of my family on my father's side, including my father, has a dark skin complexion, so not knowing about the different ethnicity then, I assumed I was part Hispanic. I asked both of my parents if I was Hispanic and they then told be I was part Caucasian and Native American. …show more content…

What I think about the book it is well organized and each chapter is explaning a subject during all the book Snyder is using Primary and Secondary sources she explains from the beginning of American Natives to the End of Native American as we can see in the first chapter she was able to explain how the Natives would be and act. A part of a book that empressed me was that before the Natives would not care in the race for slaves they would never think that white would be superior than blacks or indians. For them everyone was the same everyone had an was in the verge to be a slave it all depend more on the age than the skin color it depend more on the age than their origin (Africa or Europe), but it was until the Spanish came it was until the…

After analyzing the humanities through the history of America from pre-history to Reconstruction, it becomes evident that Americans identified themselves as purely unique individuals with unlimited potential; while this idea was constricted to a certain group of people for some time, certain art pieces and literary works expanded the common American identity to a wider population, eventually causing it to lose its race label. The revolutionary Exploration era delved into the unfamiliar and the strange, as European explorers crossed the Atlantic in search for new resources and land. During this time period, few European art portrayed the fruits of these explorations in various sketches, used for informational purposes. One such example was…

Place with a Memory Just like everyone in the United States of America, excluding Native Americans, I’m an immigrant and/or come from immigrant descendants. This means everyone has a race or ethnic group from which they descend from, and they may or may not follow the cultural aspects of their kin. For me, I am an immigrant who moved to the United States from Pakistan at the age of two (2002), so while my parents grew up with a great deal of culture and tradition, I did not; I only have what they attempted to affix on me. Being a first-generation immigrant, I grew up with all of my aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents directly on the opposite side of the world from me, so to me my real family was only between me, my mom, my dad, and…
