Personal Narrative: My Name Is Rain

Decent Essays
Hello! My name is Rain. I’m not like a lot of girls in the sense that I am every single one of them in one, regardless of that though I still manage to get it to work for me and it helps me make a lot of friends. Anyways, I’ve got an odd job. I work in my house making goofy vlogs that sum up my day, help out others, or just tell some wacky story and sometimes skits, if I’m feeling super ambitious and full of energy, I’ll post a video of me singing.

The water was just as welcoming as it had been on the night when Rainsford had fallen off the yacht; not at all. However, he supposed wildly flailing in the deep murky blue of the ocean was better than being torn apart by the pack of hounds. Rainsford held his breath underwater, the salt stinging his eyes. “Clever one, that Rainsford fellow.” General Zaroff remarked, peering at the blustering waters.…

When I think about the boy who I was growing up, the young adult I am today, and the man I plan to be in the forthcoming years, one aspect of my life stands out to me far more radiantly than anything else: my culture, my skin, my identity as a Bangladeshi-American. There aren't many clubs or organization for Bangladeshi Americans such as myself. Make no mistake, there are certainly events for Bangladeshis living in the United states, many that I have attended due to various entreaties from my parents. These are event where the only language spoken is one that I barely speak (Bengali), the only music conversed about is that which I don't listen to or understand, and the only events discussed happen in another country that I have spent only a…

Faith is the belief in something greater than us one can put full trust, confidence, and reliance on when difficult times arise. I was raised to be involved with church activities to maintain my spiritual life; additionally my faith grew dramatically when my cousin deceased and gave me an overview of what I wanted to pursue my career as. When I was a child, my parents encouraged me to always be as loving and caring as I could be, not for personal gain, but to be benevolent to the people around me. I was raised with two loving parents, Mario and Rebeca, along with a younger brother, Mario and older sister, Ana.…

“You, in the yellow shirt, yes, you, come over here and help me get this canoe in the water!” “Ok,” I said. Me and the bus driver/canoe (who drove us to the river guy) both picked up the canoe and put it in the water. Then me and my dad jumped in the canoe and waited for the others. After that, the old man dragged the kayak into the river and my grandpa’s friend Rich jumped in.…

Positive: The sun was shining bright at Market Commons as I walked barefoot on the hot but yet comfy sidewalk. Children were laughing and playing on the sweet green grass, and their parents were swinging in hammocks, as the cool wind blew through the air. Pedestrians passed each other on the sidewalk and stopped to conversate. As I kept walking, I stumbled upon a Rock Climbing wall and decided to climb it.…

“Crow Hill” The line from this poem of “When it is not wind it is rain” reminded me of every day in Florida. The weather here is so bipolar. One second it can be a sky full of direct sunshine and then the next second it is pouring down rain with a heavy overcast and booming thunder. Most of the time I am inside when this happens but a few times I have been caught outside.…

I was born with the name Patricia Laura but most of the time people called me Laura. For some reason, I love the name Laura because it makes me feel happy and carefree. Laura is of a Latin origin that reminds me of the laurel flower. A tiny and modest flower that blooms beautifully and represents motivation and determination. My aunt was the one who gave me the name Laura because she told me that once she saw me; her face blossomed and told my parents that I had to be named Laura the fact that my facial expressions showed humility and wisdom.…

My name seemingly means noble and strength, but looking at myself, I don’t understand where that is coming from. Saying that I have strength would be like saying the sun isn’t hot, simply untrue. Most people perceive me for being a fairly scrawny person with not entirely a lot of muscle. I went through this horrifying moment at my FBLA conference where our chapter participated in multiple team building activities at the national guard military base, meaning everyone would individually need to utilize their strength. When I climbed up one of the courses, I lost my grip and gradually started to slip.…

Most people have interesting and hilarious stories about how they were given their first and/middle names. Regrettably, I am not one of those people. Although I’m sure it would have been impressive to have a riotous tale. My Father did the most of the naming, as I’m told when asked about my name. He claimed that his Aunt did have a somewhat big influence into his choice.…
