When I arrived, I did not know English aside from a few words my parents were always encouraging me to learn and speak English properly without forgetting Spanish. My parents taught me to have pride and dedication no matter what the job was and with it I would succeed. One of my first jobs was working for Rite Aid as a cashier and it did not take me long to be promoted to a shift manager through dedication and hard work. In my first three weeks, I had already impress my manager who had awarded me with the employee of the season at store. It may have been a small price it but to me it meant a whole lot and she also informed me that the district manager wanted to promote me to a shift manager. Even though I wanted to keep moving up the latter my real motivation was earn a higher level of education.
I am very proud with the decision my parents took almost seventeen years ago, today. Had they not taken that decision I might have never learn English and gotten a good education in school. I might self might have migrated eventually but even with the work ethics of a good employee I might not have had good success without speaking English. And I want to continue working hard to get a better education and eventually a better job or a job to which I am happier
