Personal Narrative: My Mother's Will

Improved Essays
At the end of the week I attended the reading of my mother’s Will. The law firm that represented my mother was forty mile from the condo and located in the penthouse of a swank office building in the heart of the city. Her team of lawyers was Harvard grads, first in their class and considered the rule of law as something they could manipulate for economic gain. Consequently, this is where I learned my mother’s true intentions of calling that face to face meeting on the night she died. I hate Christmas because nothing is phenomenal. I am not being facetious. I assume that Santa was busy and remiss when he forgot to give me a Christmas gift. Every time I saw other children play with their new toys by looking through the translucent window, I consternated about Christmas, and felt disconsolate. It is a paradox that a rich country should be so many poor people.…

When I first learned of this assignment my first thought was to interview my mom. She is the one person in my life I am closest to. Since we are only twenty three years apart, I thought it would be best to focus on her life up to the point where she decided to have kids. Though I knew most of what she told me it was still nice to just sit and talk about her life experiences. My mother was born to older parents and was the youngest of three children.…

“If a woman cannot stay home with her children, then maybe she just should not have them!” Natosha Keller, my mother, is a stay at home mom who believes if a woman were to have children, her number one priority should be to take care of her children and not have to worry about anything else. On the other hand there are other mothers who do not have a choice to being a stay at home mom, and they have to work to support their family. Making the decision to stay with your children or join the workforce can be a difficult process. For a lot of parents it is damaging for them to be away from their children for more than a few hours a day, and that is a big reason why we have stay at home moms.…

February 16th 1998, 12:48 in the afternoon my mom always talks about that day with a laugh. What?s so significant about that day? Well that?s the day I was born. To this day my mom and I laugh about the crazy story she tells about me not being her kid. She always compares me to my older brother and how he came out extremely small, light skinned, and to top it all off, he had the most beautiful grey eyes anyone would ever see, and according to her I was the complete opposite, fat, dark brown and my eyes being the biggest and darkest you?d ever see.…
