I feel it is worth noting that in August of 2015 my family was given the unfortunate news of my mom's diagnosis of cancer. My mom spent the next couple of months in and out of the hospital dealing with surgery, chemotherapy, radiation treatment and various other procedures pertaining to her diagnosis. My dad’s work schedule prevented him from taking on the roles that my mom previously filled. This is where I had to pick up more responsibility around the house. I was responsible for the daily routines of my 3 younger siblings ranging from 2 years to 11 years of age all the while juggling a full workload at school and sitting on the executive of different school clubs. Furthermore, I was one of the key organizers for Ed Holder’s campaign for re-election as Member of Parliament in Prime Minister Harper’s government.
