Personal Narrative: My Moment In Football

That Moment It was then my time to shine, and show everyone what I’m made of. The moment all the hard work and practice was made for. Countless hours perfecting my technique and routing. I stood there looking around at the hundreds of kids, teens, parents, players, the student section, the band, everyone. ALL of their eyes were directed towards me. They were counting on me. 32 yards out, slight wind coming straight towards me, right hash. Everyone was set. Everything went silent. “Everybody ready!” Snap, hold, POP! Kick is good! Rebels win 38-35! I can not even begin to tell you the amount of pressure that was on me and everything that was rushing through my mind. I’ve never been more nervous yet humble at the same time. That was because of soccer. I have been playing soccer ever since i was 5. I’m 17 now, and I still play to this day. Fort Smith Express Soccer Complex is like my second home. For the past 12 years, more than half of the year was dedicated to the soccer fields. Day in and day out my father, also my coach for about 8 or so years, pushed me to my limits, but I am so thankful he did that for me. Playing soccer has taught me more than I thought it ever would. The two most important things soccer has taught me are to stay humble, and be confident. It was engraved into my mind because of my father. He would tell me before every practice or game, “stay humble.” Confidence came along later in the years when my skills
