Personal Narrative: My Mistakes In The Football Team

Improved Essays
Everyone makes mistakes, it’s humane. Mine was in freshman year of high school. I tried out for the football team, I didn’t know what I was doing, mostly because I wasn’t paying attention and wasn’t listening. I kept getting distracted. I knew if I didn’t find a way to stop getting distracted I knew it would a long hard season, harder than it was supposed to be.

It was the start of the football season and I was still working on not getting distracted so easily. We did the drills that we practiced in camp a week before, but I wasn’t really good at them. We started practicing new drills and I didn’t fully hear coach. The result of that when it was on my turn was that I got hit by my teammate because I went the wrong way. It took me three tries

It was on a cool spring night in the middle of May. I was running on a field next to 11 of my teammates and 12 opponents. It was around 8 o’clock on a thursday night, our girls lacrosse team was playing a normal regulation game against the dreaded high school team from Hempfield.…

I’m going to write about my first half of my freshman year of high school football. I was really good in 7th and 8th grade and I tried to push myself really hard to be as good as a high school varsity player and get a starting position. But I wasn’t good enough. I broke my ankle my last second from last game in 8th grade running the ball and got tackled and fell hard on it breaking my tibia and fracturing my fibula and tearing all the ligaments in between. I had surgery on it.…

My sunburn lines between my shorts and socks symbolized the restless, tiring hours spent out on the field. Every Tuesday and Thursday, for two and a half hours, the sun scorched my body while my legs would scrape into the ground. The cluster consisted of the seniors’ looming bodies that would go shoulder to shoulder against my own freshman self as our feet would battle for control. While this exhaustion enthralled and encouraged my game, the sprints, planks, runs, and more caused me to dread going to that grassy field every week. The humidity produced heavy, useless pants from my lungs as my throat would feel as if it was closing in from a claustrophobic nightmare.…

In high school I played football, and my senior year my football team hired a new coach, Coach Robbie. Coach Robbie has lived in the same city as me since he was a child, so he knew how hard the streets were, and knows how to make someone not to settle for what it is that they do not want. Coach Robbie held people accountable, a great father, and a smart man.…

Last year during fantasy football I had a great team my players rarely got hurt and none of them got suspended. On the other hand almost all of my opponents had to deal with that. I also got many other good players such as: Drew Brees, Panthers Defense, Derek Carr, and Amari Cooper.…
