I migrated to the US at the early age of 4 and had already learned Spanish in Mexico. However, I was able to learn English through the television programs in English. I wasn’t enrolled in a pre-school program and stayed home with my aunt. During free time, I would remember seeing a lot of Sesame Street, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Arthur, and Dragon Tales. And then when my parents came home, we would watch Spanish television programs. I believe that I was enhancing my Spanish vocabulary and picking up on the English language as well. With the cartoon shows I learned pronunciation of letters and words as well as numbers.
