Personal Narrative: My Love For Criminal Justice

Decent Essays
My love for criminal justice started 17 years ago, when I was a young wife to an abusive husband. I found that the system implemented its laws of protection to help put the abuse to an end and keep my children and I safe, while going through legal processes. Due to the interaction of great people behind me, I gained love and respect for the criminal justice system and wanted to be able to help people the same way. What interests me the most about the criminal justice system is that it is so widespread, but my main love is probation and parole.
Currently I am not working, but when I was working I was employed with the Sheriff’s Department in my town and was able to witness how probation and parole officers act as a liaison to the court system,

ding. If I were in this situation as the parole officer I would do my best to try and help to mother, in whichever way possible. I know this would go against my beliefs and rules that I must follow as a parole officer but I still think I would try my hardest to help this mother get back on her feet and be able to provide for her children. I think many people would jump the gun and file a violation report on this specific issue, as she is violating her probation, but I don’t feel that would be the best way to approach this situation.…

This means that those probation officers continue to deal with a significant amount which could allow for some of those individual to fall through the cracks and go right back into the prison system. From these numbers we have to ask ourselves is the probation system working?
