In comparison to other sports, it emphasizes the use of teamwork in a better fashion, condones more responsibility, and there are constantly nasty wrangles between players. However basketball can be demanding of energy sometimes, and I refer to coding. Coding is a great way for me to explore how far web development has truly gone, and it creates so many possibilities by just changing one variable or one source code. While most kids were outside playing in the mud and dirt, I was sitting inside on a couch, comfortable, clean, and happy to do so. As a child, I detested the idea of getting my clothes dirty. I loved to be able to maintain the pristine cleanliness of my outfit, so I often refused to play outside. Instead, I resorted to a crimson red Gameboy SP with a blazing LED screen, almost too big for my hands, for my childhood action. I’d live out intense fantasies in that three inch square.…

An abundance of people appreciate the arts, whether it be the performing, visual or theatrical areas, on the other hand, I love them. My passion being the visual arts. Instead of writing and spelling at five years old, I was drawing, painting mixing colors and forming shapes not realizing the capableness of my techniques for such a young aged child. Because drawing was the only thing I fancied, every one figured it was “a phase I was going through and would grow out of it”. It never happened.…

As a child, I constantly dreamed of visiting the sites I saw in various Disney movies, and my dreams came to life once I had visited Disney World. Through every visit, my love grew, not only for the characters, but also for the intricate structures, and the amazing architecture used to create them. From styles ranging from Victorian to Gothic, the exposure to different styles of architecture was endless, and I was intrigued more and more with every passing second. After extensive research in the creative jobs offered by Disney, I had realized that a career as an Imagineer served as an ideal choice for me, due to my interest in architecture and engineering.…

I was contacted by my old coding teacher and received the opportunity to assist her in leading this year’s coding program. Although I knew I wasn't the best at coding, I saw this offer as a chance for me to learn more about it while sharing the little that I knew with others. During last year's program I got the opportunity to create my own games/programs/apps, and I learned more about JavaScript and its role in businesses. With this information I realized that knowing at least basic code is necessary in this day in age, especially if one was to pursue a career in a field of or relating to technology. At first, I was surprised to see that many of the students who attended this year’s coding program were around my age…

I will never forget the first time I started programming. I started with the hopes of creating a “Triple A” game title or a physics engine for a game. Oh how naïve I was, I thought I would be able to program anything. With the sights of programming in my eyes one night I found myself alone in my room. The room was dark, the screen was bright and filled with white and a blinking cursor.…

Upon finding out I had to use a Linux for a week I was a little concerned. I have had prior interest with the open source operating system but never enough to actually want to put it on my machine. I have read and heard horror stories that certain drivers couldn 't be found or that wireless couldn 't be enabled in the system due to multiple reasons. But, I went in with an open mind and was pleasntly surprised with the outcome and ease of access that Ubuntu made available to me. Installation was fast and easy, the most difficult thing I ran into was finding out which drive…

When joining an organization of some sort, everyone in that particular organization shares the same knowledge or interest. Many people assume you join an organization because you already have knowledge of what the organization is about, but I believe even if you don’t have the knowledge before joining doesn’t mean you can’t join. For me, I had trouble fitting in at the Engineering Club at my High School. I didn’t have any knowledge about engineering before joining the club, but that didn’t stop me, I was still interested to find out what it was all about. You might ask why join this club and well you were able to learn things you couldn’t learn in classroom or books such, learning how to collaborate with other people you don’t know, how to…
