Millions of people go to games or watch SportsCenter every day. I enjoy a good baseball game, but I’ll watch football or basketball if I get a chance. Baseball is great because of the incredible history. Even reading about the old-time games excites me. Football has overtaken baseball as the national sport.…
Basketball Nerd “If only I could beat Tommy in basketball,” I though. Everyone would laugh at him and I could prove that I am good at sports. I have recently moved in because of getting bullied in other schools. I have gotten pushed into lockers, punched in the face and even locked in the teacher’s lounge. My parents are sick of me getting bullied.…
It Follows Me Feel the cold wind frosting your ears, see the existence around you rushing by in a blur, and imagine the ground rising up to meet you. Visualize the world spinning away while waiting for it to come back. Experience the sharp pain of falling, which will make you strive for the satisfaction of perfection.…
Like all children all I ever wanted was to be big and do big people things. I engaged in a few family members that I would look up to and try everything they did. I use to pretend to go grocery shopping and being a parent at times. At the age of eight, I had worn the worst pain ever and that was watching my five, year old brother getting hit by a car while trying to cross the street riding a bicycle that had a loose chain. I remember him trying to get up and get to me, but a few adults that had witnessed the accident had told him to lay down.…
With no time left on the clock, my heart was pounding. The chaotic shouting from the crowd was all I could hear. Non-stop I listened to everyone in the gymnasium say “take your time” or “you can do it Sara”. This was the start of my junior year of basketball that has completely changed my life for the better.…
I bolted to the wing. Nabil had just caught the rebound. He took charge of the point. Trying to showcase his “great” dribbling, he got the basketball knocked out of his hands. The defender jumped for the ball.…
Tycianna Caldwell Reynolds ENGL 1010-01N 8 Oct. 2015 Taken for Granted: America We as individuals are very quick to look only at the bad sides of situations. We are sometimes only able to see the things that we do not have and overlook the things that we do. We take for granted things like freedom, equality, and being able to gain an education. Many forget that these things are not guaranteed to others that live in different places. I realized how fortunate I am to live in America when I met someone from another country.…
High school soccer tournaments are not very common in Iowa. The first ever soccer tournament for the Dubuque Senior girls Junior Varsity soccer team was a huge success. It was in Clinton - DeWitt, The day started out by loading the bus at six in the morning at Senior. The sun was already out but the air still had a cold chill to it.…

It was my senior year of basketball and it was just getting started. This was it, my final year where we were going to win State and I was going to get a college scholarship. I had prepared all summer and in the preseason, nothing was going to get in my way. Our team was smaller this year and lacked the skill we had in the previous years, but that just meant I was going to have to step up even more. I was totally ready for the season and whatever challenges we would face as a team.…
Our basketball team hadn’t won a championship game since 1992. It was my senior year and my last shot at redemption against the defending champs. The whole season we only lost one game, we were projected to lose, and we were the underdogs. We had one week left to prepare for what was the largest game of my high school career. Monday’s practice was the worst of the week, we only ran and shot free throws.…
The first time I learned basketball was when I am at the 6th grade when my physical education teacher registered me in a basketball summer camp. I used to be a shy and quiet girl but since joining the summer camp I started to socialize and have friends. After two months of learning basketball, I began to like it. Then, I started playing basketball in high school as part of my school’s team and I’ve been playing ever since. It started out as just an activity, and then became a hobby that’s something fun to do but later on, I found that I really like basketball.…
Doing something that I had always wanted to do and adding personal effort to it had brought out the best in me. Doing something well makes me feel good about myself, but importantly, it teaches me the process of how to improve on my skills and work efficiently. Evidently, team sports are done with other people. Therefore, basketball is a social activity. I made friends, developed relationship with teammates and understood the benefits of teamwork.…
I started my journey in health and fitness at a young age. I was always one of those kids who just could not sit still - so I was into everything, climbing trees, riding bikes, swimming, sports, you name it I was into it. However my discipline to this way of life came when I discovered basketball, it was when I was about 13/14 and shot up to practically the height I am now, so my teachers said why don't you try and develop your skills as a basketball player as I was taller than most of my teachers at 13 which lead them to think I'd grow to be some kind of 7 foot giant, but unfortunately that didn't happen, would've been cool though.…
I have had so many different experiences in my young life. There have been many good memories along with several unpleasant ones too. I feel like embarrassing moments are bound to happen to high school students. Every person has had their fair share of embarrassing moments. However, I think I might have a moment that tops them all.…
